gotta wonder what Tom Compton had to be thinking when there were 31 Fuel Floppers at Bakersfield. When was the last time the Big Show saw that many? And there were no major sponsors gracing the sides of the cars.

Oh, and they still run 1320 feet.

10 of the cars running in the 5's and some in the 5.70's. WOW

Small Blower, Small Pump. Small Tires, and a points mag!

Man, now that's a show. Look good..sound great and Bucky is a bad man!!

I would love to see NHRA backup to something similar..just like the 'ol days.

That repeated "thunk, thunk" sound you are all hearing is me kicking myself for not driving out for Sunday folks...

Nice vid, PF... 1320 feet, no smoke, no fire, all pop and side by side- make ya kinda wonder what's so great about the "other" side....

Bro, I hate that you missed it. Best March meet EVAAAAR.
It is not to be missed.
10 times better than a National event. I kid you not.

I had the thrill of seeing 32 Funny Car shows at New England Dragway in the 70's.
And would trade that, for the present faster 16 cars show, at 1000 ft.
Plus the cars looked like real cars.

Dim Light was also walking around in a dazed state of mine.
Look at all of the cars and spectators......and their all having fun.
What a novel approach for a drag race:eek:

Just 2-3 years ago Indy got 26 of each TF/FC, but over 30 cars? The '92 Winter Natls. got 33 Dragsters, that's the last time I remember that many.

As good of a count as that was, there was a HUGE disparity in performance, from a 5.77 to a 7.20.

Got that right. Had a blast, and 10 times better may be an understatement. Cookie cutter squirts to a 1000' are YAWN!!! I don't care if they make 20,000 HP ---1000' = YAWN!!!

Joe-Take a look at Sundays laddars (TF & FC A & B), and you will be hard pressed to find any 1000' cookie cutter race that had better side by side racing.

What was he thinking? How can we limit the nitro percentage in this orginization too?

Thats a shame. It looks so fun, sounds like everyone had a blast. Too bad I'm stuck only having 1 national event within 8 hours of here. I would totally prefer to go to this event, just dont have the time or money.

Just curious, do you think that calling Graham names adds to your credibility? Or that it makes you look smarter?

Alan

P.S. I assume that you guys know that race and that series is all a part of NHRA. If the crowd and the show was great, they (Graham and Tom) Loved it! They own the track.

Alan old buddy, they (NHRA) hold the Master lease on Famoso Raceway, the track is owned by the Kern County Airport Authority.

You missed a great event, it is no wonder Tom was impressed.

Darr,

I stand corrected. The point being that if the event was a success, NHRA as well as Tom and Graham would be happy. Saying that NHRA would hate the March Meet being a big hit, and attracting a ton of cool cars and fans, would be like saying that NASCAR would be pissed because the Truck Series had a good event at a track they controlled.

And I would have loved to be there as well, but I was at the division race in Tucson. And business is business they pay me to be there.

Alan
