It was great 2 years ago when Antron won the Championship in Top Fuel, and was dubbed the "First African American champion in the NHRA." The one thing that was incorrect in that statement was, he actually was the 2nd, because Don Prudhomme had won multiple championships many years before Antron. In an ESPN Page 2 article written Feb 16, 2012, Antron says "he hopes he can inspire some young racer the way Prudhomme inspired him."
I guess Snake didn't want to say he was an AA back in the early days of drag racing because maybe corporate America would not sponsor him. But now Prudhomme has built up enough clout to set things straight! It's funny how they used Jesse Williams, who is African American, to play Prudhomme in the Snake and Mongoose movie.;) I just feel that Drag Racing is so much more advanced than all of the other motor sports because of it's diversity, but it still has a ways to go.
