Las Vegas -Jim Yates and his SeaRay Boats/Prince Williams Marina Pro Stock Pontiac GTO ran a best of 6.775 seconds at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway but it wasn't enough to put him in Sunday's ACDelco Las Vegas Nationals starting line-up -- by a mere six-thousandths of a second.
"We felt we had a handle on the tune-up but as the weekend went on that wasn't the case," said the driver from Occoquan, Va. "We missed the tune-up on our Friday night run, and that turned out to be the best qualifying conditions. We'll regroup and get ready for Pomona (Calif., the season's last race, Nov. 9-12).
