ESPN is double dipping they get money from NHRA to broadcast drag racing and collect more money from the sponsors who pay to advertise during the show it's the best of both worlds! :p

Maybe that money helped pay for the lucrative NASCAR contract they signed only difference is NASCAR gets a huge if not all of the package money....

NHRA pays ESPN 100k per hour to broadcast drag racing, now there is some funny chit!!!!!! Lay down the crackpipe!!!!!

First of all, Mr.-Know-It-All, it is a fact. So you might think that you are so smart, but you obviously have no clue what you are talking about. In fact, all that you have proven by saying that I should "put down the crackpipe" is the following:

1.) How ignorant you are...You remind me of the loud obnoxious drunk in a bar that will dispute ANYTHING with someone in the bar, just to create some attention for himself....But, whatever...I ignore them, just like I will you, after this post...

2.) How important it is to you to try to make yourself look like you are the "macho" man, when based on the PM's that I have gotten to let me know what you had to say, that you are obviously not well liked on here...

3.) How it is interesting that you are even on this board, because I thought it was only for people who had a clue about this sport....

4.) That you should know the facts before you dispute them with someone, ESPECIALLY when you are going to be so ignorant and immature in the fashion that you do it...

Oh, and as a young man, my mother DID in fact teach me that when someone picks on you, that means that they are sweet on you....Paul, sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but you just aren't my type...Keep watching those late-night pay-per-views, buddy... ;-)

Nuff said...OUT!

Paul-

I told you what NHRA pays a year to ESPN

Jay told you what NHRA pay's per hour to ESPN

Brent did the math on what NHRA pays ESPN
and what he heard a few years ago-

There is no smoke being blown here- Those are facts!!
You better buy extra butt wipe or new pants if you can't handle the facts, because I have a feeling a bowel movement from you when you do realize the facts- And none of us smoke crack!! Marlboro's- :D

What do you think it costs for an episode to be aired of your favorite one hour show on TV?? How about a half hour game show?? If you want it to play, you gotta pay- In bunch's!! The big bags of cash- ;)

Any idea on what it run's for a 30 or 60 second commercial?? You would be out of charmin and pants!! :p

Ghio...thanks for the heads up...Apparently Paulyboy doesn't realize that there are many people in the know here, and that we also socialize quite a bit, too..

Anyway, about Paulyboy's favorite TV shows and what each episode costs...? Simple...they cost him $19.99 and they can usually be found on channels 593-599 on Direct TV...

As you know, I am quite cordial with everyone that is with me, and usually, even with most that aren't....BUT...in Paulyboy's case, he obviously wanted to open his mouth and spew ignorance (and the results of whatever else he's been up to....ewwww!!!) so I thought I'd let him know how smart I thought he was...

The NHRA owns the majority of this spot inventory and packages it up with their sponsorships...However, I do believe that you can just buy spots as well...They are not nearly sold out, so I would say that if you wanted 50 spots through the season for example, you would average about $3500-$4000 tops...They'd be happy to take your $175,000-$200,000..

I'll bet I'm pretty close..You'd have to ask John Siragusa or Gary Darcy at the NHRA though, to verify that...

Jay,Jay, Jay When someone from NHRA or ESPN posts on here what deal they have to show drag racing I will listen to them. I look at you as just another know it all that really knows nothing. When you say how I am hated on this website I find it hard to believe as I post very little and I try not to post on subjects that are controversial. I must say I am shocked that you would launch such a vicious attack against me for what I said. But one thing is for sure Jay, In my mind you are a total ass.

Dude you are so out of it that it has become comical like you.... After you spent some time on this board you will soon realize who knows and who blows... Unfortunately Paul you have proven to be in the second category. All that hot air is not worth much, especially if you don't have credentials to back it up.

I don't know Jay personally but I respect his knowledge and insight. The man knows what he's talking about. Pay attention, you could learn something.

Of course this is just man's opinon...... ok maybe a few more believe the same.

Thank you Jim....you are a perfect example of someone who actually is in tune with this sport, and others that are in tune with it as well...

First of all, I never said you are hated....Disliked a bit....Quite different..

Also, if you were smart enough to read other threads in here, you would have seen that many topics, including the one that you so ignorantly brought up, have been, and continue to be discussed..

Which brings me to my final point...You say you have no idea why I launched a vicious attack on you..? First of all, I did not "attack" you, and it certainly wasn't vicious....I seem to remember that you started it by telling me that I should "put down the crackpipe"....I just finished it...

If you have an opinion about something, all of us here are interested in hearing it...But when you want to be ignorant and act like a 2 year-old, we don't....

Grow up, Paul.

Does anyone know how the deal between NHRA and ESPN works? Does NHRA have to purchase air-time or what? If that's the case, maybe the acquisition will result in more resources to purchase a better air-time package that might eliminate some of this?

Anyone..............................anyone?

Sean D
This was the post that started the responses of basically what does NHRA pay ESPN to air it's programming- Now maybe some think that ESPN pays NHRA, there is a wide cross section of folks in here- I'm sure others were wondering the same thing- So I answered a question that I know something about- I won't do that again!! LOL

Paul-
Atleast three different members, none of which are in cahoots to just spew a number out there, which BTW all seemed to put anyone wondering right on the mound- Not just in the ballpark- If one had said they "heard" it was 2.5mil a year, and another says, no way!! it's gotta be in the 30mil range, then I would discount both numbers, one heard, and the other has no clue-

But you read three dead-nut figures, from three different sources, all having given three differing types of examples of coming to the same number- I think that may be a good or true number- Not completely blow the boat out of the water, and say, you must be on something- (out there!! - to the moon Alice type of thing)

I'm kinda interested in what you think NHRA pay's ESPN??
Was that 100K per hour figure, or is my 9.+mil a year figure, way high, or way low- It's a fact!! Now, if you will only take calls from Wally concerning this, please let us know what number he gives you-

Next time we're burning a fatty on needlepoint night, maybe we can come up with some other conspiracy to throw off the masses- :p

I think this question has been answered- NEXT!! :D

It's all good with me anyway-

If you can believe the 2005 NHRA Tax Return NHRA cuts expenses, increases profits in ‘05 - NHRA spent $8.2 million on TV Production Expenses in 2005.

Wow...thats interesting. Thanks for the link. I wonder, does Powerade ever pony up cash for the TV airings? Can they afford it? I mean, obviously someone in their marketing department isn't spending money on advertising..they have what, 2 commercials (the shoe with a bazillion laces, and the asian girl lifting unequal weights)...OH WAIT...they have 3...I forgot they've gone back to using a 2 year old LeBron James commercial... someone is hoarding money somewhere.... just a guess..

T :D
