Owns a TV network...still watching sportscenter 35 minutes after the show was supposed to start.

Same here. Fortunately for me I live on the west coast where it's still early. Must really suck for those on the east coast.

Good ole RELIABLE espn.

*$%@SUCKING MAGGOT JOCKS....

Still watching a bunch of overpaid, steroided thug "men" in leotards trying to climb all over and slather themselves all over each other like a bunch of sissies over a turd shaped ball. What's even worse, is it's a SHOW about football, wasteball, etc. A SHOW they could have played at any time AFTER the actual sporting EVENTS (like qualifying).

GAWD, I HATE ESPN.

My thoughts exactly! Everyone should be calling NHRA Monday morning and insist that they put pressure on espn to get their scheduling squared away. Better yet, suggest that they use the SPEED channel for NHRA racing. Lots of folks are going to be pissed when they turn on their DVRs tomorrow morning just to find footage of a bunch of guys grabbing other guys  and falling down on the grass.

SPEED channel will not cover as much of the country as ESPN does. Your dealing with sports, games run over. How many times have the drags ran late and we got the extra coverage at the expense of something else?

and if NHRA's on SpeedTV it'll just get bumped by a NASCAR pre-post race talking head show or Pinks or some other fluff show...SpeedTV doesn't give a rat's patootie about anything that isn't NASCAB

but what NHRA really needs to think about is dropping the Saturday qualifying show all together, or at least cut it back to a 1/2 hour recap. Then replace it with a couple hours coverage of the Friday night sessions on Friday night! (that would probably help with Saturday stick and ball sports from running long into the the NHRA's time slot too...)

Stick and ball sports, I'm sorry to say, dwarfs all motorsports for viewer ship and $$$ that's just a fact of life! ;)

The Dallas Cowboy's franchise is valued at 1.5 Billion dollars what does that tell you?

What Tiger Woods makes in one tournament is more than all the drivers in one fuel class make all year and it won't change anytime soon! :p

Stayed up until 4:30 this morning... yeah, midnight is bad enough, and they only showed the last flipping round... I mean, dang... 2 flipping hours of listening to talk about how a dnq is bad to your chances in the points chase... well duh...

Get a clue... the only ones up at one in the morning watching the dang thing are people that understand... even people that would tape/record it....

give us an hour fifteen of runs, 15 minutes of fluff(chase stuff and real news), and the half hour of commercials.... and I'm happy they brought back the powerade basketball commercial.... beats the heck out of the dang 10/50 bs.

okay, done *itching... well almost: Gary G... one more time... we know how they flipping feel... stop asking, it just makes you look like an idiot...

We finally get another Saturday with actual qualifying taking place and once again the TV "partner" screws it up.

Does anyone know how the deal between NHRA and ESPN works? Does NHRA have to purchase air-time or what? If that's the case, maybe the acquisition will result in more resources to purchase a better air-time package that might eliminate some of this?

Anyone..............................anyone?

What I hate is, I DVR it, then sit down to watch it & only get to see part of it because the show before ran over.
What REALLY hacks me off is when they do it to Sundays race & there I am all ready for final round & all of a sudden the DVR says recording ends & says
delete recording? Now I try to remember to record the show after the race also.

I have a directv DVR. It has an option under season pass that allows you to extend recording up to 3 hours past the program end time. Just to be safe I have NHRA set at 1 1/2 hours of extended recording & NASCAR at 3 hours.

NHRA pays ESPN 9 Mill and some change- Don't quote me on that!! :D It's in that ballpark-

This has been an ongoing issue for as long as NHRA has been on the deuce... I am used to this, I may not like it, but it is what it is, until they switch networks... If I was told dinner will be at 5, and it's now 6, does the food taste any worse... Look, I respect and understand you guys and gals being pissed, but I guess I'm over all the ranting about Drag Racing taking a backseat to the scrabble championships... Do I want it changed- Hell YES!!

TNN never had this problem, but they did not have LIVE sporting events that went extra innings, or a college football game going- (don't mess with peeps and their COLLEGE football!!) In fact, TNN even had LIVE drag racing during the US Nats and other events... Some of you may be too young, or new to this sport- When is the last time NHRA, EVER made a smart business decision?? And don't say this 90% deal, because other than the, they will sound better noise, is still to be determined and may cause many more unforseen issues down the road... Tires are, and always will be my main concern- I should have kept that to myself, but I have been screaming it for a very long time...

What do you think ESPN pays NASCAR per season-
Yes, ESPN pays NASCAR, not the other way around-
And it is very big $$$$ which all the NASCAR teams get a chunk of-

I hope today goes better, but there is a live WNBA basketball game on before the race, so plan accordingly...

Geez, the world is so tense-

I should actually set mine that way as well...ESPN can suck my *^&$!! I'm so friggin tired of gettin screwed by any and everything that ESPN deems necessary to pre-empt drag racing for. And while I'm ranting..what the hell is up with playing the 2-3 year old damned Lebron James commercial?? It was annoying then and it's annoying NOW!! Maybe it's a conspiracy? ESPN doesn't want people to use TiVo...yeah thats it.

Ok..I feel better :D Now I'll go make a drink and relax !!

I think the worst was when a race was delayed for BASS FISHING. And those guys get $250,000 for catching a fish while our racers go 330mph for $40K each race.

One more time! NHRA is getting what they pay for! Did it occur to you that BASS may have more money than NHRA? Have you ever been to a Bass Pro Shop or Cabela's megastore? And . . . ESPN will not leave a live telecast - no matter how stupid the event is.
If you don't like the current state of affairs, find some one at HD Partners and tell them to SPEND MORE MONEY on ESPN. Of course, you're going to have to find these people, because Tom Compton doesn't give a S$$$ what NHRA members and/or fans want! -

I havn't read through all the posts here.but I had the privilage to sit with a well known pro racer in the stands of a circle track race 2 weeks ago. He was sounding very positive and optomistic abouth HD partners. He thinks that they could very well turn a lot of things around for the sport. The Pro show of course.

why don't every one who is pissed off about not seeing the PRO part of the events, ask MR Lucas WHY he get his Sportmans program on at HIS set time and date. and it's not late from what I been told.

Seams to me NHRA is in the PISS every one off mode. including all the people who pay for adverts on the program.. Which if you noticed is less and less 10 or 50 crap.. I wonder why even powerLESS ade is not even buying time on their own show. LOL remember the saying follow the $$$ I guess Sports center is worth more money to espn then drag racing or they would not prempt it. If I paid for a time slot and it was NOT on. I'd say it was a breach of contract.

A friend said the only reason he Trys to watch it on tv is to hear what people are saying for info on happenings going on. like the wa wa wa wa wa Army leaving PSB and Mopar leaving Pro Stock @ DS. ooops I WONDER were the WAGON is going there ??

I hope HD is really reading all this stuff and plan on correcting this Nonsense FAST or they will be buying a ship with a Small trolling motor.
