Will we see Busch's car again?...?.

:)....that is a really sharp looking car.

I hope Shell and/or Dodge will put somebody in the seat before Kurt takes another (possible) turn at Denver.

Hate to see their investment sit in the trailer or garage.

Nominations please?

Is his car not just one of AJ's back-up cars?

I don't know (for certain) who owns the car but, Shell and Dodge got PLENTY of free advertising this weekend. (Well, I doubt if their exposure was FREE.) Getting that puppy out there EVERY weekend couldn't cost them a LOT more money, eh? I mean, there was even a pretty solid pit crew, no?

With someone else in the seat, there could be BUZZ every weekend. i.e. are they better than Kurt? Is it the car or the driver? Who's better Ray Charles or that NASCAR interloper<G>?

his can I believe is just a 2nd backup to AJ. I say you will see him out for the mile high nats as that's the only break he gets for the rest of the season from nascar that meets the nhra schedule. I say mopar will certainly make that push for AJ and Busch to meet in the final at their race. AJ has hands down dominated the mountain the last 2 years and I don't see this year being any different.

AJ/Busch # 1 and # 2 qualifiers and they meet in the final.

I see the mopar execs grinning ear to ear at that possibility. I also see Busch's leaving Nascar. He's done what every driver wants in 2004. He's made a name. I love to see this as a new avenue. Plus his time with his family may actually increase.

yeh, but I don't see many, if any drivers in drag racing that make the money that a driver in nascar makes. Seems over in the NHRA world, if you don't bring the money someone else will always be able to buy the seat out from under you. I doubt Kurt even got much extra than his normal weekly pay check because SHELL sponsors the nascar ride he is in.

Kurt himself said he is NOT leaving NASCAR, that he has 10-15 more strong years on that circuit, and let's face it ... he will make more money in 1 year running NASCAR, than he would in a career in Pro Stock. I don't know what Kurt made last year, but his brother Kyle made 18 million last year. I would guess that Kurt was is in the 8 - 10 million range. He takes NHRA very seriously, but it is just a way to challenge himself and grow as a driver.

Good point. I dont think it was about money, I bet this was an unpaid adventure for Kurt. I bet shell paid him by fronting the bill on his big weekend out

Just for the record, the car Kurt was driving was not A.J.'s it belongs to Nick Mitsos. It is the car Vinnie Deceglie drove last year.

Despite the expected first time jitters on Friday, I thought he did a great job. A .049 RT and 6.541 looks like it would have put him into the 2nd round against a couple of the other drivers that ran.

I agree that Kurt did a great job. Not sure how many runs he has made in the past year including Roy Hill's school, but the guy drove very well in my opinion!

i thought it was a respectable showing for Kurts first attempt to make and race a PS feild....

Alan.. i would love to know what if any increase he had on the tv show ratings... it had to add to the count some how in some way...

Actually, I'm glad he did well but, didn't make it look easy ('cause it ain't - especially in Pro-Stock).

I always felt 'kinda bad when John Andretti went to the final(or was it semis?) at Memphis some years ago, some folks prolly though Drag Racing was simply "Aim and Shoot".

One thing that was absolutely noticable in Gainesville was how many people stayed in the stands to watch the first round of Pro Stock eliminations. You didn't see the normal rush to the pits after the nitro cars. Interestingly enough, they didn't all head for the pits after the Busch-Enders race either. I'm sure that a relatively oil free day also helped keep the fans in the stands. Regardless, it was nice to see.

With Kurt's NHRA adventure,it's given me a favorite NASCAR driver. I use to not care but I like him,so I pull for him when he's turning left,I already have a favorite P/S racer. Speaking of my favorite P/S racers,WJ has really picked it up this year,so wins 98-99-100 would be great.:)

I'm with you on both points, mate.... however, Kurt will have to be my 2nd favorite NASCAR driver, Ambrose is first.

Driving Pro Stock has made Kurt Busch my favorite NASCAR driver. I was a bit torn in first round because Steve Cultera, the clutch guy on Erica's car, is a friend of mine and Victor Cagnazzi used to run comp and I know him a bit too and the Mitsos, who own the car Kurt drove, are wonderful people and good friends as well. An Erica-Kurt final at Denver really would be great as far as I'm concerned as would be an Erica-Vincent Nobile final at any race they are both entered in. I always root for ex-comp racers in Pro Stock, which is good since there are a lot of them in the class.
