So we have the DSM500, Ford500, AJ500, TFX, SCHM500, BAE500, JFR500 and who knows how many more. T/F & F/C are basically a spec engine class. I guess you add your name to it so people think you have something different. Ford doesn't make a fuel engine, nor does Chevrolet, they are all the same except who made them. I guess??? I bet Taska's Ford is the same as a AJ500.

Terry, Pat Austin's son Drew runs a Ford engine based on the Boss 429. They run it in a Camaro nostalgia F/C. Hmmmmm, the engine is very competitive, so ya gotta wonder if it would work in a Big Show car (or would it be accepted as a Pro engine by NHRA). Story goes that this engine was developed years ago for TA/FC. NHRA told them they couldn't run it cuz the cam was too high in the block. Anyhoo, Pat brought the engine back in the A/FD nostalgia ranks, & it went into the 5.80's I think. So now it's blown on nitro and runs good. Would love to see it go Pro.

Pretty sure it was a Bore spacing issue and not cam location. Since all the Big Show fuel Motors are limited to 500 CI and the bore's are 4.187" can't see any reason unless the oiling is better. With the Blower overdrive limits on the Nostalgia classes more cubic inches effectivly makes the Blower smaller as a 6-71 = 6 x 71 CI = 426 CI. You can't make it any bigger or overdrive it more than the class rules you can only make it more efficient which has it's limits.

Isn't that the reason the Austins left NHRA . They gave them the ok to build the motor , then after they put the time and $$$ to build it the NHRA said nope.

Darrell, that was the story I heard. Pat did run TA/FC for a few years after that then quit. You know what was interesting to me was seeing Pat Austin as a dad with a 23 year old son driving the race car. I hadn't seen him in years & then he shows up with the A/FD at Wild Horse one year in the Heritage series. I'd always remembered Pat as a young guy. Yeah I know, we all get older..... :)
