How many freebies (oildowns) do PS get? (I`m joking , I think). ;)

Sportsman cars(dragsters) gets none and then a $200 fine(I think) if they put oil on the track. We like to say that "we have to pay to play in a national event sandbox then pay if we $hit in it".
Also they must also wear a diaper(for the motor, not the driver).

$250 fine, what defines an oil down is a pretty gray area also. ;)

I haven't seen flames come from a Pro Stock motor since Alderman's "rotor broke" on the Avenger. Then the Hammer came down:rolleyes:

There is a big difference when the fire comes out from the bottom right along with numerous peices of aluminum shrapnel after a literal ton of oil smoke, and well- this:

Oh wait. Did I say that out loud??:o

Looked like a distributor fire to me...:D

They were so dependant on the juice that after they were caught they couldn't even build one motor that was halfway competitive. They had no baseline to build a competitive motor. That (to me) was the telling tale...

Cheaters!

Don't you think that's being a little judgmental.:( I think MS had a very good baseline. Maybe they just didn't have the extra support they needed from Mopar to put them on top. No one knows the whole circumstances except those directly involved. Let's not forget they were a group of talented people at Wayne County including the late Scott Geoffrion and Darrell Alderman.

Not too judgemental at all. They were cheating and found guilty in the court of public opinion. Once the alleged break-in happened they never were competitive. If they were innocent they would have been back to prior performance levels. I was amazed they didn't lose their sponsor. Cheating and Cocaine distribution doesn't make for great corporate public relations.

Court of public opinion? This post is harsh AND judgemental!

Darrell was very remorseful about that whole deal wasn't he, John? I find it to be in good character to be able to make a mistake..pay for it..and move on and be a better man than you were before.

But David, the quote above coming from a dyed in the wool pentastar devotee about a Mopar team lends some credibility, doncha think? Now if Johnny Cerberus was dissing on my man Dave Connolly's stellar reaction time this weekend, now THAT would be different, right, John?

You assume so much and then state it as fact.

This isn't like you, John. I'm disappointed.

Dan,

I appreciate your comment and take it as a compliment.

I really don't believe I'm assuming anything. If I have any part of this wrong please correct me with proof.

DA's drug issues are well documented in court.

It's the NOS, cheating, and story telling that put mud in the faces of Mopar fans. We thought we had something...et records, top speeds, event wins and NHRA championships. It was all tainted and all make believe. Wayne County was nowhere near the field after the alleged break-in.

I'm just glad our current Mopar Pro Stockers compete honestly and ethically.

John, is your guilty by the court of public opinion proof?

And of course, DA's problems were public knowledge. He's moved on a better man..now how about you moving on?

I had once heard that some of the teams running NOS and getting away with it was one of the reasons Bob Glidden quit. Any truth to that?

I agree that Alderman's legal problems were public knowledge. As for the rest, please be assured that common knowledge is not always based on facts. At one time, the court of public opinion believed that the earth was flat, that malaria was caused by toxins in the air, and that 64k was all the RAM any computer would ever need.

As facts came out later, all were proven untrue. Unfortunately, I'm not sure when all the facts will come to light in the situation you're so sure about.

And I did mean the comment as a compliment. I enjoy your postings here.

So was I! I never could explain why Mopar poured so much more money into them afterwards and stuck with them so strongly that Darrell (one of the best drivers regardless of what he did on his spare time) & Scott were still paid even without competing. Maybe there was a reason Mopar stuck with them?? Think about it, if your headliner team REALLY WAS CHEATING, would you even give them the time of day? Or would you come up with some other 'reason' you cannot continue your involvement in P/S. We see teams lose sponsors at the drop of hat all the time for WAY less than the accusations that were flying around back then.

I realize perception is reality, but just something to think about.

David,

My post wasn't on DA's drug conviction, it was on his team cheating, getting caught and never being able to run the et's and mph they did before the alleged 'break-in'.

Are you actually suggesting they ran legal???

I know it means about as much as a warm bucket of hampster vomit, but I am behind you in this one John.

And sure, people make themselves better every day. It is life. It is the miracle of humanity. Everyone on this board has done it and seen it first hand. But all the personal improvements will still never change history. Never change the ripple effects from the decisions. Truth is a knowledge of things as they really are or were. It will not change what happened.
Hey, I hope that my ex-wife may become a better person some day. But does that change the fact that little miss muffet had someone in papa bears bed while he was off at church? NOPE! Truth does not move.

There's never been any doubt in my mind that the Mopar team was cheating. I don't care how badly "thieves" smash up your blocks, any team worth a damn has tons of data, notes and years of experience and could get back on track in a relatively short time. These guys were so lost they couldn't even come close to making the field. I bet if WJ & KJ, or Anderson and Line, or a few others out there now had their stuff smashed up by "thieves" they'd be back on track in a matter of weeks. It's not that hard to replicate parts you've already built and been proven to work, the hard part is building them the first time.
