What a Great event!

Other than the Heat which sucked bad, I can't think of anything bad about this weekend! Yeah losing Friday night was a Bummer, but I saw some of the closest side by side racing ever, in all classes! Alky Dragster and Pro Mod qualifying was Nuts! Good to see John Rogers and Greg Rice!

We were up in PA this weekend with some friends so the heat was not as bad, did get to see some of the TV coverage, got home just in time to catch the 4pm slot...well...4:30 whatever you want to call it.

Thought the racing was great, glad to see Morgan pull through. I'll leave my feelings on Connolly for another discussion but I was glad too see Bob Vandergriff speak his mind on the oil downs....it served it's purpose at one time.

Pro Stock I thought was just awesome...Erica has endured her detractors, criticism, and problems...some deserved I will say...but that girl can flat out drive....period. She's showing when it comes down to it...it purely is a point A to B with everything in between race.

Really looking forward to the delayed sportsman coverage as data and wifi connections where we were were spotty at best. I did have the audiocast on for a bit....but you couldn't really hear anything in the back ground....just the announcers talking but it was still good to hear something.

the race coverage from the nationals was very good; sure wish indy could run in cooler temps though.
congrats to all the winners and even runner-ups....brutal race in that heat.

I agree with Vandergriff, the oil down rule was wrong right from the start, and still is. I hope the new skipper will drop that rule.

What did BV say?
basically that by winning the semis they were in the countdown but barely, barely to the point that if they raced, lost and oiled
track in finals they would bump back out of top ten.....so they went out there and shook, spun and popped the supercharger, and
evidently no oil......bob mentioned his dislike for the 'take away points' rule and further noted that if not for it being indy, he
would have sat out the final.

Joe, just out of curiosity, did you park at the farm that's on the opposite corner to the race track on Monday morning? More specifically, did you pull up next to a bronze Mazda Miata and talk to the guy in the car first thing Monday morning about putting a 350 in a Miata? If so, that was me! Your face looked familiar, but I just wasn't sure. I should've asked!

The question is, what would've happened to Connolly sense Spencer Massey was in the 10th position for the Countdown if the oildown would've occurred? Would they have removed Massey and put Connolly in like they did with JR Todd on the Traxxas shootout?

What about Vandergriff and Oildowns?

Sorry....but the Oildowns rule has been the ONLY thing that has reduced Downtime! You think the racers care about downtime?

Yes that was me! How did you know that was me?

Oil downs were brutal on Saturday 1st session. How many points and cash do you lose on an oildown? The Zizzo team had to owe money to race in the event!

Yeah that appeared to be a tough weekend for the Zizzos. It's hard for teams like theirs that don't get to make a lot of laps. Hopefully they'll be out again soon, I like those guys.

NHRA did eliminate the Oildowns about 5 years ago, until the Vegas Disaster in what 2011-12? Over 7 hours of Clean-up, NHRA publicly apologized to the fans. They were brought back the following year, The Fines have Greatly reduced downtime, it's been proven many times.

Then only 9 would have raced for the championships. They haven't swapped out drivers in the past who made the countdown but were not going to race during it

Unfortunately, that rule will not be changed until Graham Light wants it to be changed.

I park in that same lot-space #18! (Blue Chrysler 200-right by the fence.)

Hey Joe,
are we gonna get to see pics of the event?
Been a long time since you posted any of your great event pics!

The oil down points penalties go away during the Countdown, only the monetary fines will remain.
