Yesterday, I was opening an individual serving of their fruit snack's for my niece, I used the "tear here" slit and it didn't open enough for me to pour them out, so I stuck my finger in there and started to use my other fingers to move the snacks closer so I could pull some out.

I felt an odd texture from the outside of the bag, and when I was able to get it to the opening, I found a piece of FOAM. The size of a fruit snack. I called Welch's and they asked for a lot number and told me that they would send me a coupon for replacement cost of the entire box.

My first response was "That's IT?! That's all you are going to do?" They said they would contact the distribution company about the issue...

These are children's snacks, and often parents give them to children Sam's age (17 months) without going through the whole package. I know I've been guilty of tearing opening the pack, dumping them on the high chair tray and turning my attention elsewhere. Sam wouldn't have realized that the foam piece wasn't a fruit snack....It could have gotten lodged in her throat, etc, and who knows what was on that foam.

Okay, that's my rant against Welch's for now...

OMG! That sounds very dangerous! You may want to contact the local media. That is something that does not need to be ignored.

foam is high in fiber, it's the new health food;)

Welch's Fruit Snacks...man those are tasty!

Jenn, you could send me your freebie.

They sent me a couple coupons for freebies. Including a freebie of their new Welch's 100% grape juice with added fiber (So that's where the foam was SUPPOSED to go).

My sister-in-law confiscated them though, something about her being the one to by the box in the first place.

They are good fruit snacks, way better than the generic brand.

Another reminder that you can't let the little ones out of your sight for even a minute. We've got a two year old, and it doesn't take him long to get into "trouble".
