He has a new job with a Funny Car team starting this week ,they will be testing with other teams at Martin MI.
It could be a "monster" of a deal for Wayne. ;)

Wayne is a great person and can tune anything.
I was wondering who the new employer was.
I heard he was tuning overseas for a while.

Thought he might be going with Al Alabi w/Alan.
Might have been Europe though.
I think the Sheik has a couple pro mods and a Dragster over there in Qatar.
Seems cars and racing can make strange bedfellows.

James,

Re read Jerry's post.

"Has a new job with a FUNNY CAR team" and "Could be a "Monster" of a deal"

;)

Or maybe you were just being sarcastic :)

it was the ladder. i shoulda put in the sarcastic icon instead of the smiley face. its to bad there is no icon for 'lame attempt at joke' or i woulda put that one in after my comment :p!!

Wayne has been tuning Urs Erbacher in both the US and on the European Circuit since October 07. This weekend, he is supposed to be tuning Urs at the European Finals Meeting at Santa Pod, England, where the title and the trophy is very much up for grabs. After that meeting, Urs is packing up everything to return to the NHRA Trail again in October (A new car is awaiting delivery as well.) and a serious start to the NHRA tour is planned for 09. It will be a real shame if those plans don't crystalise with Wayne being part of them.

If the rumors are true, it won't be a "Monster" of a deal for very long. There still could be hope for Urs and Wayne in '09 yet ...

i don't think KB would be building such a big new shop if his future wasn't already set. plus i thought the monster deal was for 3 years anyways.

Getting back to my question, I know it was him how could he have been in Europe then? ......

Yes it was me. I had talk with kenny we are freinds his option is his option. He will do what He thinks Best for him.I will forfill my word with Urs.We race in santa pod this weekend We still have a shot. (slim) stranger things have happen. Please stop the Bull

Word around the campfire is that Monster bought out their deal from KB racing and are going bye-bye at the end of the year. People with much more "Mater Cred" than me have posted this information in other threads. That was the rumor I was referring to.

Besides, a shop that big does not get built overnight. It has probably been AT LEAST 18 months in the making , maybe longer if you include design and permitting etc. He could have gotten quite far on that shop before the Monster rug got pulled out from under him.

With all of this said, I hope nothing but the best for KB Racing and Tommy Johnson Troxel Jr. I hope they can get another marketing partner for next year.

Lastly ... I was in section QQ with a bunch of other Maters on Sunday ... how in the heck did we miss Wayne'o in our midst? Good luck in Santa Pod next week!!

Actually, from what I understand, the Brownsburg city folks have really greased the wheels for Nitro Alley. Check out the ads in Nat. Dragster offering space "ready to occupy". I'm not saying it is easy, but I promise you it's easier in a town like that -- a town that wants race teams -- than in 99% of the country. That's why they're all there.

That said, from what I saw of the KB shop on TV, and comparing it to the ads you see for space there, it looks like you could get in there in under 6 months...

There is a HUGE difference in renting space in an existing shop and building a shop. KB Racing built their shop ... so the building was not in existence and therefor could not be "ready to occupy" as the folks in National Dragster advertise. Let's say the skids are well greased in Brownsburg for Nitro Alley and KB racing did get it done in 6 months as you propose ... KB racing's future was brighter 6 months ago ... wouldn't you agree?

That was my only point to start with, that the shop was built when it appeared solid that they would be running 2 cars out of there.

The only point of your post with which I was disagreeing was the 18 months. Anyone who has built/owned commercial buildings (as I have) can tell you that the receptiveness of the local government can vastly change the time frame. And from all indications Brownsburg is exceptionally welcoming to race teams. I think that's fantastic, and very unusual.

I certainly agree that KB's fortunes could well have changed between the time the go-ahead was given and today.
