[Video] scary Alky F/C pass at the finals!

Mad drifting skills. You see how he kicked it up on two wheels to go over the timing block? Didn't touch a thing the whole time.

Those are the passes where you are glad to get back to the trailer in one piece.

The "groove" is very narrow at the start (which is pretty common). Just a little to the right at the hit and that guy was just along for the ride....

E Ticket ride right there.

It is fun to watch. I liked Harkers response when they showed him in the post-run interview.

Great job keeping your head, Danny O!! Not touching anything was pretty damn impressive... I'm even more amazed knowing that I watched your licencing runs after Vegas 1 this year- ya handled what could have been an ugly situation like a pro :)

More proof that ANYTHING can happen out there folks...;)

Daniel Oliver and I used to go to Ascot Slick Track and see how sideways we could get without spinning out. The experience paid off here.

I think the two people needing CPR the most were Kate Harker and I.

Daniel had a half tenth on Harker off the starting line making the encounter very close. Here's a picture Michael shot from the grandstands just before Daniel ran into trouble. Click on the picture for a larger view:

I can only Imagine how scary that looked from behind, thank God Steve ran a .57 or that would have been a Mess!

In '04 Marc White ran a 5.56 and a 5.55 in the same car at the Winternationals (we had a different body). We were going for it because Harker runs strong and doesn't make any mistakes.

Hindsight is 20/20.

ASCOT Slick Track was actually open in the 1990's along the 5 Freeway in Anaheim. ASCOT Park in Gardena was already closed. They closed the slick track when the freeway was widened.

It was a polished concrete oval painted glossy black. To make it more fun they would sprinkle baby powder on it like I do at Chuck Worsham's bowling alley so you slide easier (shameless name dropping). The carts you drove were actually designed to slide and you had to know what you were doing to recover.

I took my brother-in-law there once and he was not able to complete a single lap without spinning it out. I told him I never wanted to be a passenger in his car during a rainstorm.

A few years ago Daniel and I did some shifter cart racing at Adam's Cart Track in Riverside and later at Willow Springs. Anyone looking for a rush under $10,000 should buy themself a 125CC Tony Shifter Cart if you really want to learn how to drive. Those things will eat you up.

PS...Thanks, Lance.
