CHARLOTTE, NC (April 1, 2011) – The Las Vegas Motor Speedway seemed to have had some tricks up its sleeve today for the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racers. Knowing the track was going to be a bit tricky, Greg Stanfield and his Team Safety Sentry Motorsports Pontiac GXP team didn’t quite hit that sweet spot they wanted.
Qualifying in the twelfth spot with a 6.766 et at 204.08 mph after two sessions at the Las Vegas Strip today, Stanfield and crew have some work to do to bring their GXP up to speed.
“I knew the track was going to be a bit tricky before we even got here,” said Stanfield. “We just missed the tune up today. We should be better tomorrow, however the weather is supposed to cool off on Sunday; therefore everything we are working on is going to change.”
Stanfield always seems to run well at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway on race day, so he may just be the gamble you want to take on Sunday.
Stanfield and team will have two more shots to improve their position in the field tomorrow, starting at 11 a.m.
