Stanfield ready to cash in at the Strip (1 Viewer)

CHARLOTTE, NC (March 30, 2011) – Greg Stanfield and his Team Safety Sentry Motorsports Pontiac GXP are ready for The Strip at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway this weekend, April 1-3.

Coming into the third race on the NHRA Full Throttle Series tour, Stanfield sits third in the Pro Stock car point standings. Before heading to the hustle and bustle of the Las Vegas Strip, the team made a pit stop in Houston for a few test runs.

“We went to Houston and did a bit of testing this week,” said Stanfield. “We got a few notes and we figured this car out a little more. We should be pretty good in Vegas.”

In 2010 Stanfield made it to the semi-finals at the Fall Las Vegas race, and was runner-up at the Spring race. This year he wants to cash in his chips for the win.

“We normally run pretty good here,” says Stanfield. “We don’t ever seem to really qualify that great, but on race day we seem to figure it out and go the distance. We always seem to be right there on Sunday, but can’t ever capitalize, hopefully this year we can put it all together and win.”

With the weather starting off hot early in the weekend and cooling off a bit come Sunday, it just might be a gamble in Sin City.

“Looks like the weather is going to make it interesting,” says Stanfield. “The winner might just be who can chase the track the best.”

The Pro Stock car field will kick things off for the Professional categories on Friday, April 1st starting at 12:30 p.m.
