Vegas 2 - 2025 (1 Viewer)

Somehow, that didn’t bother me.

But let’s look at the real pros. Bernstein, Amato, Greg Anderson, Blaine Johnson, Doug Kalitta, Dallas Glenn, Bruce Allen. As far as I know, these guys never pitched fits or slammed things around, and if they did I never saw it or heard about it.

A winner takes losses with humility, and acknowledge that it’s part of the sport. I’m sure they’re frustrated, but they are sportsmen, first and foremost.
One exception I'm aware of - Bernstein. No, he didn't slam things around but when he had to shut off in the semis due to 0 oil pressure because his crew forgot to put oil in the engine after the rebuild, that was one hot little dude. :D I bet the conversation afterward was, uhh, interesting.

Jon Bradford won T/AD. Was he running the electronic fuel injector on the engine? I saw that set up when he first ran it at Firebird, thot it would be interesting how quick it could run.

Maybe they should have taken Connie to the woodshed.

Buster 1, Connie, 0. LOL

Similar thing happened to Eddie Hill at Bandimere years ago where he faced Gary Beck in the final. No reverse; the crew pushed the car back by hand but not in time. Buster told Beck's team to send it.

Hill didn't throw a fit but my God, the fans did. You could hear the booing for half a mile. Wasn't Beck's fault, though - they tried to wait for Eddie but Couch had no choice.

The problem with Vegas is letting two corporations practically own the entire strip. I stayed at the Aria two years ago for a bachelor party. Two drinks and a chicken sandwich at the pool was $100 bucks. The minimum at the craps table was at least $20. And trying to find a hostess for a drink at the table was an adventure. So we would gamble in old town.

Bandimere 1986. That was the first time the Bandimere race was on television.

Josh Hart is leasing Travis Shumake’s car to run Pomona.

I hope he purchased the optional damage protection insurance.

Whenever I licensed new drivers in my TA/FC, I explained to them that it was their dream to drive a funny car, not my dream for them to drive a funny car. They had to agree that, if they stuck it in the wall, they paid to fix it. Mechanical issues, as long as it wasn't driver error, was on me

That one was a while ago, but I was at the IHRA Springnationals at Bristol, 87 I think, where Conrad was shut off on the starting line for a fluid leak, and the starter was straddling his car screaming in his face, telling him to shut it off in the final round. He wasn’t happy then either.

i remember as a kid taking the family truckster on a big western loop. we stopped in vegas for lunch i think. (us kids could not enter casinos);
the desert was literally directly behind ceasars. somewhere i have an old polaroid pic of the temporary outdoor boxing arena that had been set up.
it was one of the big fights from the 70's. frazier / ali / norton / holmes / foreman ...... probably a couple of those dudes. went 3x in 90's. last time
was '96 stayed @ stardust. in '93 saw willie play @ the desert inn. the hacienda was still open, the dunes and the sands were still standing.
the stratosphere tower was just coming out of ground. great memories, but sure wish i would of been around in the really great years.
