V Gaines retires

It can't be fun showing up to the track with no chance to win. I am shocked we haven't seen more follow him.

V probably has as much cash as anybody else in pro stock so why not take a page out of the Larry Morgan book and stop tryin' to do everything yourself and join up with one of the 3 heavyweights (Elite/KB/Gray) and become an instant contender.

It sucks showing up at your bowling league with no chance to win. Or R/C track. Or dart league. Or hot dog eating compitition. Hopefully you can just enjoy competing. If everybody that has no chance quit, the staging lanes would be pretty empty.
I hate to see him go too.

Another one bites the dust, when will it end ? When nhra has only three rounds of match racing to offer? And they better get their heads out the sand .and start being appreciative that there are a few racers that show up for THEIR show. The end is near if they d'ont start helping the racers. If it was'nt for Connie, Don, John, Lucas, what would they have to offer,The Alky classes are dying there is nothing that NHRA has done to bring in new blood to go forward other than raising they costs.700$ to qualify at a regional and pay to enter--usually going against 16 to 18 cars because of the regional structure.National event 1700$ if you qualify -go 2 rounds and only get a few extra hun.? Ask what will happen to Promod if they didnot pay their own way????Like I said before we are the clowns that pay to perform.

I don't know if it had any factor this but I always thought they should have made the fuel injection change a gradual thing. Allow both combos and let the teams transition as they get a handle on it.

"Enjoy your retirement Vince!"

Who's Vince and what does he have to do with this announcement?

That's too bad. While I've rooted for Erica and Brutus, I've been hoping another single operator like Vieri might unlock the secret to this fuel injection deal.
I doubt cash was an issue but, I wish he could hang in there. Still seems odd to retire immediately.

the mitsos haven't gotten much results in the last couple of years and u wonder how long are they gonna keep pumpin' cash into a pro stocker and of course there's Jeg, who has a history of retiring, especially when he not winning!

Even a well healed person knows that enough is enough.
Spending $50k out of pocket every other weekend gets old.

I personally would like to see things go back to mid 70s running Pro at division races and cut way back on National events. That alone would help low $$ teams.

More bad news, for a class that's already suffering this year. You seriously have to wonder how long NHRA is going to be able to keep hosting events with short fields? Will 8 car fields become the new normal in the Pro ranks at NHRA Events?

I sure hope these folks figure out that the average joe isn't going to pay a huge ticket price, to not see full fields at National Events.

Pro Stock, in it's current form, is on life support right now. It either needs to be revived in a hurry, or pull the plug on the whole thing.
