V Gaines retires

NHRA should have allowed racers the choice of FI or carbs. I don't think anyone saw this complete domination by one team coming but that's what happened. If it really is 50k a race it won't last.

V probably has as much cash as anybody else in pro stock so why not take a page out of the Larry Morgan book and stop tryin' to do everything yourself and join up with one of the 3 heavyweights (Elite/KB/Gray) and become an instant contender.
I don't know what kind of relationship "V" had w/ Allen Johnson but a joining of forces could have given the J&J team something Allen has said they needed, more run data from a team mate. At this point it seems that Mopar threw in w/Elite hoping they would jump quickly to the top well...I guess that wasn't such a great idea after all. Allen has the best running Dodge and Elite seems to be spinning their wheels with both brands.

Someone correct if I'm wrong but I thought V purchased Madcap racing engines here in the Denver area and that is why he was using his own engines.

Here are some of the businesses that V owns, racing and not.....I think he owns 17 in total:

1) Carz Performance
2) Fineline Graphics
3) GRP Connecting Rods
4) Laramie Peak Motors
5) Lazarus Race Cars
6) MadCap Racing Engines
7) Western Truck & Auto Maintenance
8) Western Distributing Transportation Corp.
9) Western Imports (wine)
10) Western Motorsports (NHRA team)
11) Western Travel
12) Winberg Crankshafts
13) Wilson Chassis Works

Wow, Winberg cranks. He's got to make some kind of decent coin off of that. I wonder what the competition between them and Bryant is like.

Obama has said "you didn't build that!" but just looking at NHRA competitors I see a lot of entrepreneurs that employ a lot of people....

I owned a bar in Colorado back the mid 1980's. At the time, there were only two businesses that had licenses to wholesale any and all forms of alcoholic beverages within the entire state. Western Distributing was one of them...

It will be weird to see V missing in the PS field next week at Bandimere. I've always enjoyed seeing the wraps on his hauler!

V Gaines trucking company helped me out of a tight situation just this morning. I arrived at the track in Morrison Co last night and parked the hauler in stacking, but when I got up this morning I noticed I had a shock mount broke on the trailer. The first thing I did was call Jim at V's trucking company Western Distributors and he said bring it over and they would see what they could do for me. They took a look at it and decided since my situation was so time sensitive and that they still had about 5 hours of work left to do on Allen Johnsons hauler that they would call Utility trailers and see if they could get me in and out the same day. Because of V,s employee Jim, and Dean at Utility trailers its all fixed and the hauler is back at the track ready to pit in the morning...thanks to everyone involved I will sleep a little better tonight.:)
