Getting back to the topic at hand which is not which bike is better, they both fill different needs, but as too why the Army pulled out and why so late after telling them it was a go for 08? That seems strange to me. I believe the Don when he said it was a surprise and he felt bad for the peoiple that are going to be out of work......

Maybe it is not getting the ROI for the Army's investment. So now what. Does the development on the new V-twin stop? Does the class revert back to a single model class? Does the class go away? Is it replaced by Nitro harleys????

A whole lot of questions and almost not answers............

Way to keep it in the groove Jim! :D

I've wondered where the money comes from for these Armed Forces sponsorships. NASCAR has Army, Air Force, Navy, National Guard and other "Service" cars. Are the NHRA and NASCAR sponsorships funded by our tax dollars?

With NO news on NHRA's new partnership, I'm sure a lot of sponsors are becoming very nervous!

Yes, Jim your taxes pay for the sponsorships, it comes out of the recruiting budget, motorsports fans contain the desired demgraphic for military service.

There's a war on, recruiting continues, but the belt has to be tightened somewhere, we all know no one wants their taxes raised:rolleyes:. It sucks for DSR, Angelle and Antron.

I see alot of posters here are couch racers . If you have ever been around the PSB's you would understand what I say about Angelle . I feel the same about Rickie Smith and others you are in the spot light you must carry yourself that way bottom line . Not cry because you lost a round and throw a fit because someone beat you and go into they must be cheating they beat me bohoooooooooooooo . The US ARMY doesn't need cry babies ! You say Angelle is the most marketable person in PSB ???? She has had the best of the best teams to ride for with the best parts, tuners,$$$$$$ ,she wins races and championships and guess what . SHE IS LOOKING FOR A SPONSOR AGAIN ! Should tell ya something !

DSR has way to much $$ involved in the new Mclaren suzuki engine and I do beleive they have a contract even . Hope to see DSR with some scooters next year just hope he gets someone with some backbone on them !

Tell's me two things Eric-
She aligns herself with good people, and get's the job done, with a tremendous amount of dedication and passion... The same traits you seem to possess concerning slamming people, except for the aligning yourself part... What did you think of Doug Kalitta before yesterday?? And how about today!! Seem's you like Antron, so what happened there with the Army sponsorship?? You have no clue!!

You also have more hate in your posts than (just) about anyone I have seen... Angelle, Greg, Rickie, Benoit, etc.

I guess you never got the message, if you don't have anything nice to say, you know; that noise!! I'm not asking you to be PC, but how about backing this crap up with substance- Better yet, nevermind!!

The rest I have to say will be pulled by the mods, and my Grandmother's taught me better-

And that's a touching "story" of you in the Force motorcoach, trailer, dyno room, dinner party and top secret meetings, I mean fridge...

Have a nice day!!

I think that more is being made out of this than what some folks think warrant a bashing of Angelle or PSB. There are only so many $$$ in the Army budget. Not only does this money go for the direct sponsorship of the racer, but for the additional cost of the Army Recuiting display at the events, and the show car program that is almost always on the road visiting recruiting sites and events. Add to this the additional costs associated with their change to the DEI/Mark Martin/No.8 Nascar effort, and there's probably not much left for other sponsorships. By the way, the Army has the exclusive recuiting rights for NHRA, so even if one of the other service branches wanted to sponsor an NHRA team, they would not be allowed to do any recuiting efforts at a national event.

As for the stands being empty during PSB, the same happens for any other class except for TF and FC. Face it folks, most people pay to see the TF/FC classes, and could'nt care less about anything else. Getting rid of PSB and replacing it with Pro Mod would not increase attendence at all. If it did, ProMod would've been a full time class years ago. NHRA is not THAT stupid.

As for Angelle, she can ride my bike anytime she wants.

I've been around them plenty, and I don't agree with what you say about Angelle.

So what? Sponsors come and go. When they go, you look for a new one. That's where she's at right now. As you've stated, sponsors are tough to come by, even for somebody with performance records and championships on their resume (remember?).

There's no point in arguing about her marketability... outside the sport she's probably the only PSM racer people have even heard of. Inside the sport, EVERYBODY knows who she is, whether you care for her or not. She has gotten a TON of press since 1996.

It will be interesting to see the DSR program. Seems like the bike will still be a Suzuki. Apparently, Steve Tartaglia is under contract through 2008. It would make sense to stick with the same basic bike. A good owner, like DS, would not throw away a few seasons of tuning data due to a sponsor change.

For some reason, the DSR PSMs seem to be in a rut this season. Maybe the sponsor change is the motivation needed to pull them out.

Thats why the ADRL just had 30,000 people show up at The Rock to watch a race then huh? Do it with PSB and you'll be lucky to get 300 people to show up.

However, I do agree that the numbers wont change b/c everyone is there to watch the nitro cars anyways. But if you seperate them and run them as the main event, PM blows PSB outta the water.

Just to let you know that the majority of the tickets at the Rock were given away. Actually over half of them were, just like they were when they raced there before.

As for Angelle and people on here that are bashing her, that is absolutely ludicrous. Angelle is very passionate about what she does, as is my family and I am sure many others out there. Sometimes we all let emotions get in the way, but if we did not we would not be human. Angelle is a very driven individual. That is why she has been so successful and anyone that picks her and/or Antron up would be an amazing feat for that team and/or sponsor. Both are two of the most talented and nicest individuals in drag racing. Anyone who doesn't think has not followed drag racing over the years very closely.

Amanda, I know that alot of them were free tickets but if you gave free tickets to a PSB race people still wouldnt show up. I'm not bashing them, its ok. Matter of fact I've been more interested in them this year than I ever have before only b/c of pulling for your brother to win. And your right about Angelle and Antron.

I know I wasn't bashing you either. I was just stating it for all the haters, ya know? Thanks for rooting for my brother!!!

As stated, we've seen sponsors come, and we've seen sponsors go, forever. It's not like they dumped Angelle and Antron to go to another PSB team. It is however, more than likely that they chose to spend those funds on something else outside of Drag Racing. They are still going to get the same return out at the tracks with using only the dragster program.

Angelle is great for this sport. Her name is world wide, alot of people that aren't into Drag racing still know who Angelle is. If you think about it, she is probably in the top 10 of all time for a Drag Racer with name recognition in the main stream media. Big Daddy, Snake, Shirley, Bud King, John Force, Ashley Force, The Sarge, Angelle....................

You're 100% correct about the ADRL. I'd love to see an ADRL event here at
E-Town instead of those lame Import shows. And those outlaw 10.5 tire cars are fantastic to watch.

I'd hate to see what NHRA would do to the rules to keep the nitrous cars competitive. They have'nt been able to get it straight with the other classes, so why expect it with ProMod? I love to watch the nitrous pro mods. Nothing cooler than watching them purge the nitrous out the hoods before a run. Remember the original "Super Chevy Series" sponsored by Sunoco? All the big names ran the series - it was great!

i'd be interested to know how much geico motorcycle insurance is sold
as a result of karen stoffer; i would think the answer to that would
say a lot about the class in general.

You know, I'll stop picking Matt to win from now on...everytime I pick him to win he goes out 1st round..and I want him to win! lol Now, who should I pick so they go out 1st round?
