Update on Fontana

Awk

Went to the open house on sat.
Tracy Fischle said that mufflers are NOT required.
Also, I asked if there is an E.T. cut-off because of the shut-down area.
He said they plan on running Pro-Mod and possibly Alcohol F/C. So it looks like a 5.40 will do.
Every one attending was pretty excited.

Very soon, Auto Club Speedway will install a system that measures the sound of each car on a run, monitored in the tower. If your car is too loud, you will not race there again until your sound issue is resolved.

Back when construction pics showed the behemoth wall I thought, man, that's ugly. What an amazing transformation with the great graphics!

FYI this Sunday February 23 is a open test n tune at Fontana. Jr dragsters are welcome, no muffler required, they will be selling Methanol and race fuel. Entry fee is $50.00 car, driver and tech card. To watch will be $10.00.

After sound testing today, there won't be any blown alcohol cars running at Fontucky this year
There still to loud even with the "WALL" in place :-(

Kevin,
Who's car did they test there? Sound test during a burnout or a full run?

When I ran our sound test there long before the wall, I think I registered 105 decibels in the guy's driveway that was complaining the most. Peterbilt right next door to him showed 107 on the gun!

:D;)Full report on cars and readings later today on BangShift from Darr.
Readings were still @ 95 or 96 with the blown & turbo cars
I believe the maximum was suppose to be 85
All of the other cars didn't even register on the meter so that would be a BIG positive.

RG, What ya bring to the show?

As you recall several years ago I took my funny car to WACC for the kids and we fired it up. I heard one of the neighbors threw a fit and complained about the noise. Larry posted that you guys are going to fire up the cacklefest cars there Saturday so I hope no one gets in trouble! I would hate to see some elderly woman chasing Larry with a broom.

What do you want me to bring? I have a shop full of stuff to chose from. If the church has a pool I could bring my supercharged Yamaha Wave Runner. The easiest thing to bring would be my Prius or my pit scooter. Didn't you have to enter in advance due to limited space? My buddy Dave Dalmas entered his 1967 'Cuda. I told him I hope he doesn't get nitro all over his nice paint job?

10 Cacklecars would be the current count and yes they WILL be firing up twice.
The homeowners association gets a free 10x10 booth so they're happy, happy, happy
Last year their president was in one of the cars when it fired up.
See you there

Kevin, will you have a booth there?

I am happy to see things worked for Fontana. Unfortunate for the Drag Racers in Kansas City the haters won and the group trying to build new track have pretty much gave up.

So it's too bad about the Pro Mod cars. However, How did the blown dragster and altered do?

WE would like to go there someday and show our support with a car. All of ours are blown with zoomies. So do we go or not?
