A slick track is the equalizer for the independent/single team racer. Look at Wilky, he's done pretty good so far this season.
A slick track will also spotlight the better driver..... ]
A super traction track is a contest of fat wallets.
Slippery tracks require tuning, and driving skills that many of the current teams never had, or have forgotten.
During the match race days of the '80s & early '90s we ran on tracks with no prep other than the first 100' if that !
I loved racing the big show cars at those places. All their spare parts didn't help.
The big money guys all whined back then too, just like is happening now.
I would to see less prep ,with just enough to keep the lanes equal.
Take away the timing maps, and the auto retard programs so that the driver & tuner don't have "traction control" by electronics.
Then you would see which teams have the skill. Tracks have been over 125 degrees since we first became addicted to Nitro.
Adapting to changing conditions should be what is important rather than having every track the same.
Nitro should be unpredictable, If everybody runs the same it's Pro Stock.
