Also high on my list are Mert Littlefield, Norm Grimes, Les Davenport, Norm Drazy, Jay Payne, Jerry Darien, Howard Moon, Jimmy Rector, Pat Austin, etc.....

Yep... after thinking about this all day, I came in to give , and declare a fact.. I will give leeway to anyone who wants to continue to ponder this question. But, !! there is no question in my mind whether Vern Moats is a major player in this scenario... You guys can vote for 4 others - but the MOUNTAIN that they will be built on would be Mt. Moats... There is no other bb - ta dude who covered more years and was a contending bad ass in every one of those years.. alot of the people mentioned are HUGE in the drag racing story , and have roots in the alky funny class - but they moved on to expand in other classes... Vern was always the alky funny ironman... You can put whatever faces on it that you want - but the mountain is Vern...
