<P> (8-02-2008) Tommy Gray has been on a roll lately, having won 3 of the last 4 races he has attended, with 2 different cars, the first being the 2006 GTO, and the new car, which is a Vanishing Point 68 Camaro. “The Camaro wasn’t quite ready so we loaded up the GTO and with the 1st run on the new motor we were #1 Qualifier at the Atco Extreme Pro Mod Show. Our luck ran a little short when it swallowed a valve on the last qualifying run and we could not get back for 1st Round.” Said Tommy. The next weekend we were #1 Qualifier at the Super Chevy Show at Maple Grove where we went onto win the event with the 2006 GTO. During the week we picked up our new Vanishing Point Car a 1968 Camaro. We had to thrash all week and didn't start it until warming it up at the track and the 1st pass on the new car was a 4.07 @ 182.” Said Tommy “I hoped that we would run well with the new car and the new engine. Our Gil Davis prepped Alan Johnson 481x power plant ran better than we could have imagined”
Next up for the Undertaker crew was the ADRL at Budds Creek right in Tommy’s back yard. “ We went to this race with an NHRA Legal set up and we qualified 13th in a 16 car field.” Said crew member George Lark . “We won this ADRL National Event at MIR with the New Camaro, we won two Races in two weeks with two different Cars”. Said Tommy. “This crew likes to have fun, and the theme on our car undertaker allows us to have some fun at the track. We dress up one of our crew guys as the Grim Reaper and bring him to the starting line. The crowd loves it and it helps to put on a great show. This has been a very successful theme for us.” Said Gray
“This team is one of the under funded teams running the NHRA Jegs series. It’s tough to run the NHRA Jegs Pro Mod challenge series without a major sponsor, but we are searching for one, and we are confident that if we keep running well and winning races, we will find one.” Commented Gray.
Tommy Gray and crew would like to thank Jegs, Richards Auto, J & S Performance, Santhuff Shocks, and Gil Davis Race Engines.
Most of all Tommy would like to thank his father, Tom Gray Sr., and his crew chief, Chick Hobson for their years of support.
