Good: history lessons, video of the Howard Cam Rattler, WCM and Beebe and Mullican, Mike Dunn, interview with Steve Christman.

Not So Good: JF, no interview with Shane Gray, usual boring format, how about interviewing Vinnie and his wife?

I guess this is an improvement.....we'll see next week if the producer and director can keep the improvements coming.

I agree with all you said and could add much more. Let's hope for the best this year.

Racing aside, my favorite moment was just hearing Big Mac's voice; it sounds like a classic Les Paul, I hope it never goes out of tune!

What's it going to take to get ESPN to do a feature on the Greek. That man has more history in his little finger and any other racer will have in his lifetime.

Perhaps it's time for a e-letter writing campaign to ESPN.

As usual no respect for the prostockers yesterday or on saturday.

Then to top it off instead of showing some of the good about sportsman racing they show a poor comp racer flipping down the track, that was very classy!!

Watched the Saturday broadcast and I was impressed by the history they covered. Pretty respectful and in depth. All the Garlits segments were pretty good too!

I forget which historic race it was, but good old Paul Page swapped the winner and loser during his voice overs.

what pat green says - talk to the greek.
the show was boring........losing interest fast.

Chris Karamesines is a living legend that's done it all in nitro racing.

However, from the few interviews I've seen of him, he needs to take a sports media class before he starts talking on camera a lot.

His life has certainly been interesting, but getting those stories about Chris by interviewing him on TV maybe not so much?

Cole Coonce would be good to ask about this. He recently did a HRM story on The Greek.

Can anyone tell me how to set my DVR to go into commercial mode when it sees anything green?

Oh, was Jack Beckman at the race Sunday?

Here is a little time machine back to 1981...sort of.

Steve Chrisman TV face time.

A very interesting fact Larry Dixon mentioned is that Steve's dad won the Winters in 1961 and Larry Sr. won in 1971. The tuner in both cases was Jerry Johansen, who I really don't know much about.

Larry did manage to mention a very interesting connection. Nice to see the Chrisman family get some recognition for their time in the sport, too. Jack Chrisman was a true pioneer of the sport. Same with Art.

Does anybody know if Dave MacLelland plans on working all the events with Bob Frey? Or, was this rare, awesome treat we all enjoyed so much just for the 50th Winternats?

THANK YOU DAVE!

It was nice to see him on TV, anbd nice to hear his great pipes again.

From what I know, he's happily retired and does not miss all the travel associated with the job.

I agree - that was a nice way for Larry to tie the two together.

I would've really liked to hear what was said, in summation if nothing else, between Larry Dixon and Brandon Bernstein after Larry took a little extra time staging. And don't get me wrong, I'm not looking for drama - I'm actually looking for education. Larry jumped right out of his car and went right to Brandon, clearly indicating it was unintentional, I'm just curious as to "why".

Dave,

I didn't get a shot of that car, but these two were pretty cool back in the day.

Comp was pretty good this year. A wide variety of cars and technology.

With all the hype about the 50th winternationals the crowds looked less than stellar especially from the eye in the sky!

Pretty enimic for such a big build-up.
They really need to stop the blimp views which show the enemic attendance from the track level it looked packed and that was pretty deceiving..

Bob, Do you ever have anything positive to say about NHRA dragracing? You have got to be one of the most negative people on this website. I have one question for you, If you hate this sport so bad why dont you just go away and stop trying to make the people who still love this sport become hatefull like you are? Please,Please,Please go away!!!!!

Bob, next time you probably should attend an event before you make a comment such as this, every seat may have not been up to the 40 to 44,000 capacity, however the auxiliary section was opened on Saturday and Sunday and as most Winternationals, the place was packed. For a Winternationals, the car count was way down.

Were you actually in the blimp?

Hi all,

Many thanks for all the kinds words about my contributions over the 50th anniversary weekend of the Winternationals. It was great fun, but my body seems to be paying the price today!!!

In response to those wondering if this is an indication of things to come, sorry to disappoint you but it was a one time shot...I guess they thought since I have been to every WN since 1963 I could add some insight to the earliest days of the event.

For those that missed it...I am truly sorry because it was one of those moments in drag racing that will never be repeated. From the cars to the events to the history on display and most importantly...the people, you will never have a chance to see that again.

I was honored to be a part of it and humbled by the response to my efforts.

Thanks to all.
