I was just informed that Tim Beebe passed away. I knew the Beebe family for many years. They were a great family to know trough the years at the races, I was also given a opportunity to drive their fuel altered at Lions it was not for me. Tim is a great lost to all of the drag racing family.

As the old saying goes, famous people die in threes. Who next?

1969 Indy. The Beebe & Mulligan AA/FD ran 6.43 ET, low ET of the world at the time. There was speculation that the car could have run very high 6.30's if the crash hadn't happened. 392 Chrysler with cast iron heads.....

Cliff my issue of Drag Racing Magazine (Nov 1969) says Tim and John were running their new 426 late model Chrysler hemi.
See the picture above, Tim tweaking the barrel valve. This combination was only in the car for a few short months prior to the
ill-fated US Nationals. Either way the 6.43 was stunning. Like what the artical says, low ET of the decade.

I still remember watching the episode of "ABC Wild World of Sports" when it showed the '69 Indy race and talked about Mulligan not surviving the fire. I believe it was Keith Jackson (maybe Chris Economaki?) who relayed the news.

As I recall John passed later from pneumonia from the fire in his lungs, I was there and will never forget it. RIP-John

Wow, what a great piece of footage from over 50 years ago.
