Thanks All. Actually a bunch of craziness in my everyday life kept this from coming out in the first wave of Five Fab Fotos. Hope everyone enjoys the pic's.

I remember meeting Norm at the new York Colosseum during an early spring car show in the 1970"s. It was where you went after a long winter of no racing. He had a table and i bought a B&W of Stoms in the old red white and blue Daurenheim car of Sam Semchenko.

And I bet that print is still floating around somewhere. either at my late parents house in a box somewhere or in storage at a garage my brother rents for his Chevelle and Buick grand national storage. You had a whole stack of prints and I specifically asked for Stoms. which you produced in seconds. at the show I remember a red STP rocket car driven by a lady. (kitty or Paula?)
Al Capone's bullet proof car with bullet holes in it. I think a pair of funny cars. I forget who.

Norman where did you get a bus? you didn't walk all the way down Texas road to route 9 did you? if i knew of a bus going down Englishtown road I would have taken it as I hitch hiked every weekend from East Brunswick to raceway park before i turned 17. (I'm 53 now)

Know what was real old? The "Dog Gone Vette" super stocker crashing right into the timing tower when the throttle stuck during a water burnout. did you get a photo of that? I saw it from the spectator side. or was that the Marcel studios era?

Used to get it at the Port Authority in the City and it would drop us off at the sign to Raceway, right at Pension Road. We would walk the rest of the way to the gate. Unfortunately now there is no close bus anymore. I remember the "Vette" but I don't remember the crash. So it may have happened before I was out at the track that often.

I went just about every week they were open because i was afraid i would miss something. never knew when a few top fuel cars would show up as they had a standing payout printed in the Raceway News I think starting at $200 If i recall. I especially liked the division event because to me that was like a national event. Top fuelers and everything. Wish I had a camera.

In that story about Bartlet, i had to laugh, if the other photogs knew anything about him how could they NOT know, I recall him hitting the guardrail on two differnt occasions during testing, A kid I grew up with who eventually moved to Bartlets home town stood up for him though, Said Dale was gonna sue somone for printing something not so favorable to his operation.

Norm thanks for capturing history on film. As some wouldnt believe the events that went on during those days.

hmmmm--- i think I might have bought one of those pics from you Norman. I went to the coliseum car shows a few times when I was pretty young. Bought a few photos. one might have been yours. Being born in brooklyn I have a soft spot for Coney Island. These days during the winter my wife and I go over there[ from manhattan] a few times a year and just walk around. we love the vibe of the neighborhood. stop at Nathans, walk the boardwalk. go down to brighton and eat russian food. shop. I am distressed by what I hear and read about the plans for the area.Let me know if you will be photographing in the near future maybe we can meet. send me a pm
