While many are off work today due to the Memorial Day holiday, it is a perfect time to reflect on the history of how this day came to be.
The U.S. recognizes Armed Forces' Day, Veterans' Day, and Memorial Day.
Armed Forces' Day is for those service members who are currently wearing the uniform.
Veterans' Day honors those who have hung up their uniform.
Memorial Day is for those who didn't get the chance to take off their uniform.

Originally known as Decoration Day, Memorial Day started in the years following the Civil War and became an official federal holiday in 1971 to honor those who served and died in wars.

thanks for posting. i was born on 5/30/66, just a few years before the gov't. changed the observed date to the last monday in may.
