Wow Bobby!!! Those pics make me want to go to some boat races this year! I wish there was some type of drag racing forum for amateur photographers like myself were we could get tips to better ourselves. I know that I suck at photoshop when it comes to touching up my pics. How about it?

Dont sweat it John some people criticize others to make them feel superior. I appreciate the pic's!!! Not all of us can be photo gods. The way I see it we get our stuff published on a regular basis,so we cant be doing to bad, thats more than some others can say !!!! Keep up the good work. We will cross path's this summer. Still waiting to here on the gators from Wes. Are you going???

Hey Kelly, how's it going? Unfortunately I won't be able to go to the gators this year. I will be headed out tomorow to the ESTN race. I hope you won't mind me bugging you for shooting tips when we finally do meet:D . I don't mind criticism it actually helps me to learn something more.

Was that at Eddyville David?? I was at that one last fall.
Yes it was Kelly..we won't let another go by without meeting, eh?

That's a great 1/8th mile track. I remember T. Hoover had a tear in his eye saying we were sitting on a treasure when he was there for an exhibition....way back.

Hey Brent,
Here's some more sub-standard Canon "Plactic" pix for you to laugh about!
Just some home shot stuff by my two sons with their Canon crap:
Criticize away!

Boat Drags 11/06'
Thanksgiving in Parker- 06'
Great pictures, but many of them are still over-saturated. All you have to do is look at the colors in relation to each other and you can tell that it definitely did not look like that in real life. FYI, I never called Canon crap, those are your words, not mine.

I have an easy solution: turn the sharpening DOWN! If you're a professional photographer, why are you using in-camera sharping anyway?
If it's an easy solution then why are so few Canon owners doing it? Beats me why they're using such high saturation, contrast and sharpening settings.

I've never shot Canon, but Plenty of my friends do. Nikons and Canon's are just like Ford vs GM, you stick with what you learned on. Like I said earlier in this thread, there are SOO Many adjustments available to the Digital photographer that we would have killed for during our Film years. Digital software will always be able to make an average shot a Great one.

These shots represent exactly what the photographers wanted for an outcome based upon settings. For the record, one of the reasons my two sons chose to purchase these cameras is because it's the same unit Jim Jannard chose to purchase for his photography hobby. We thought he'd be an excellent reference for one man's opinion of what was the best. Keep in mind it's the features you seek that determines the camera/lens you purchase when money is no object.

Let me guess...shot with a Canon? They're over-saturated and 'plactic' looking, typical Canon trait.

Seems the shots were impressive to many others since most of these boat owners/drivers requested copies of these shots after seeing them-but, what would they know about photography. It wasn't like they didn't have other photos of their boats? Heck, maybe they're into over saturation? Even those who commented in this thread seemed to think they were great. Well, all but you, of course.

Well I took my Bigma to Gainesville to try it out at a race. And I've determined it is FAR to cumbersome and slow for the Dragstrip, it didn't take me but an hour to realize it's NOT a Sports shooting lense. Even at 50m (75m on the D200) there's NO wide-angle to speak of, and the Focusing isn't nearly as fast as my smaller lenses. I'm sure I'll find a suitable application for it, just NOT for Dragracing...

Yup, thats alot of lense to lug around. If you wanna see some shots I took in Hattiesburg Ms last weekend, look in the sportsman section. They were shot with a 70-200. I will put some Gators shots up when I'm done going through them.
