The 50-500m Sigma lense I ordered has arrived! Now I just need to figure out an application for it. I'm not sure if I'll take it to the track yet...

Hey Joe when you travel to the races post it and maybe someone with a hot shot truck might haul it for you.
For that matter a team missing a second car might have the room unless it would put them over the weight limit.
We expect to see some action pics now with the new acquisition.

Good one Larry, actually this isn't a Fast lense. [email protected]@500, that doesn't make for action shots. But it did come with a Bitchin Case to carry it so I might try it at a race to see what the P.I.T.A factor is...

You may be surprised what you can come up with even with glass that may not be the fastest around. Just gotta learn how to hit it and that thing could be a diamond. Especially stuff like Vegas in the afternoon from the stands.

That lense will be fine for action. Lighting is the key, it wont work to well at night , but should be just fine for daytime. Just pick a spot at the top of the bleachers and shoot away. Post a few when you get them.

Mike, this year when I go to Indy, I'm taking friday off to drive to Dayton, Ohio to visit Wright-Patterson Museum. That should be fun.

Joe, we went to the Wright-Patt Air Force Museum two years ago. My parents live about 30 minutes from there in Fairborn, you'll have a good time.:)

Did they let you see all the UFO stuff left over from Project Blue Book?

There are a few things there that are rumored to have been associated with Project Blue Book but it is not a huge display.

What interested me the most was the POW section as they have alot of things that were handmade by the POW's that they had to use to survive.

They also have an Auxiliary Hanger where past Air Force Ones are kept & you can go thru them.

It's an all day affair & very interesting.

That lens sucks! It's slow, it's heavy and it's not sharp at any focal length. I don't see how you could possibly like it. I think you should should just box it back up and send it to me to avoid being disappointed. ;)

Post some pics Joe. I was thinking of putting that lens on my "next thing to waste money on" list. Did you get a new one?

Thanks for the Suggestions everyone, I'm sure it will just take getting used to more than anything. Teri I'm really looking forward to going to Wright-Patt, I'm anxious to see the B-36 Peacemaker, The B-29 and the XB-70 Valkrie they have there! It's too bad none of the Original Flying Wings (WB-49) are still around.

These were shot by Victor Archer at 500mm, so you should be O.K.

Joe The Air Force Museum is awesome, definatly go to the annex and check out AF-1, the 707 on display has so much history, (it's the one that Kennedy flew to Dallas, and Kissinger flew to Paris for the secret meetings with the NVA to end the war) when My Mom and Dad lived in Piqua, we would go every year. I haven't been since Dad died in 99', He was an electrical engineer and did lots of work for the Government at Wright Pat. He found it to be very odd to have hanger sized freezers kept to -30 degrees, things that make you go hummmm..

Whenever we go home to the great BUCKEYE state we always try to go to the museum. Every year it seems to get bigger & better. You will have a great time Joe & your camera will definitely get a work out!!!:)

Joe, Here’s a B-29 for you…..

I took this picture at March Field in Riverside California just a few days after meeting you when I was in the beer line at Pomona. I would also like to visit the Wright-Patterson museum….. If I go to Indy this year, you can ride with me instead of renting a car.
