Typical hater. Was GA mean to you or something?
Second, how can you argue with the facts? Do you see Greg having tons of fans? Do you see anything in his interviews but this pompous attitude of "we are so much better than everyone else?" In my opinion, NO!
SO you read his mind !!!!!! It sure didn't sound like it to me,it sounded like ARROGANCE !! Pure & Simp;e !
BUT you are the EXPERT on everything........ I mean everything !
First, I'm not a hater. Let's just clarify that. I have drivers that I like, and don't like, but hate is not a word that would imply how I feel.
At least GA didn't call him a "punk".
I go to a couple of races each year and spend most of my time in the Pro Stock pits. It's much less crowded than Nitro Alley and I find the drivers and crew to be more accessible and willing to answer my techie questions. In my experience, the Summit car pit tends to have the most people hanging around it, with GA and JL making a point to greet fans and sign autographs, even between rounds on Sunday. Erica Enders is/was also very popular and accessible. I've been going to races for many years and never once detected a hint of arrogance or cockiness from the Summit drivers in the way they interact with spectators. On the contrary, I get the impression of a very professional team.
Pro Stock is unlikely to ever have the appeal or fan following of fuel racing and John Force in particular. The Summit team does not have throngs of fans and the rock-star status of JFR, but neither does any other Pro Stock operation.
I've never seen anyone, but ScubaSteve, do a scuba shot (8 ounces of Jack Daniels in one gulp) and not fall down or barf it up. One night Scuba did 3. He's the King!!
all in all drag racing just kicks azz
I believe his statement about Connolly being lucky was aimed @ the Countdown deal but IMHO he should wait till it's over with before taking aim because how is it going to look if he comes back to win it? :
I don't think it's GA's attitude toward the casual fan that gets him the rap,I think it's his attitude about the whole situation. I've seen him autographing fans cars in the parking lot of Atlanta,so he's fan friendly as far as I can see. I'm certainly not taking up for him but he's had a lot thrown @ him like rules changes aimed @ them directly, the pressure of winning which becomes his right in his mind after winning so much. Now this Countdown deal has rained on his parade and I'm sure it's tough to deal with. Now he can see what WJ and others have had to deal with all of these years when the kitchen gets hot. I believe his statement about Connolly being lucky was aimed @ the Countdown deal but IMHO he should wait till it's over with before taking aim because how is it going to look if he comes back to win it? Just because some pull against him doesn't make us bad guys, but guys who like the action to be fun and to me,this is a lot of fun. This deal is far from over, after all,how long can Connolly keep up the pace without making a mistake? I think GA has already caught a couple of breaks like Krisher giving up the ghost after that .100 something light GA had against him. I can see where GA would be pi$$ed after losing 170 or so points when the Countdown began but it's the way it is,like it or not. The whole concept was to make the race to the Championship interesting and I believe NHRA is successfull in that respect. I'm not handing the Championship to Connolly because I'm thinking KJ is going to get hot and get in to the final four, then it's anybody's. Are we having fun yet?
You're absolutely right, that is what he meant. As for how it's going to look if he comes back to win it, it's not going to matter because winning the championship won't make his statement any less true.
I don't understand what everyone is pissed about. The only think he screwed up in his statement was naming Dave personally. The fact is, all of the other 7 were lucky, not just Dave. Although Dave's got the hot hand now, any other year it would be too little, too late. The lead was just too large and GA woud've been the true world champ, period.

excellent post! if anyone says greg is arrogant hes a hater, i dont care what he or she says they are haters. greg is very approachable and a nice guy to talk too. every year @ e-town i stop buy and get to chat with him for a few minutes, and im just a regular fan, i was at the banquet in LA in 03 and we talked again for a few. this year he told me about the g6s they will run in 08. he has never been cocky or arrogant in any way possible, again if you think that youve never talked to him or just not a fan, just admit your not a fan but dont says hes arrogant. these drivers are very easy to talk too. let me not go into a certain top fuel driver that his father owns the team and is sponsored by the army, but he is trully arrogant. ive seen it multiple times. but if i say anything bad about that team people will be all over me. that team is worshiped around here if you havent had the chance to talk to greg to see if hes arrogant, talk to him @ the next national event you go too, then decide. except for tony $hu ive never come across a racer that was arrogant and not nice. people are very jelous of success i guess. its sad.I go to a couple of races each year and spend most of my time in the Pro Stock pits. It's much less crowded than Nitro Alley and I find the drivers and crew to be more accessible and willing to answer my techie questions. How are the other 7 lucky??
I dont agree with this Countdown for the same reasons as most other people but the bottom line is its here and its only going to make GA look like a bigger fool to keep crying about it....thats just my opinion.
