The really funny part is still ahead...............when the next cut is made and DC loses points and all this is seen as it really is.........not very important!! Make the cut and roll the dice..............you feel lucky???:D

Here are the facts:

1) As much as many of us, (including racers), don't like the countdown, it is in place and if you want to win the championship, you have to score the most points from each points reset to the end of the season. Simply put: go more rounds than your opposition from here on out and you are the champ, (provided you are already in the chosen 8). The first 17 races were just a warm-up.

2) The points were reset after Reading and the gap was closed between G.A. and Connolly, but since the points reset, Connolly has gained more points than G.A. Both men had the same opportunities to score equal amount of points in Indy and Memphis, but Connolly has outgained G.A.

3) If G.A. had won either of those races he probably would still be leading the points, so if he did in fact go into test mode after he locked up a spot, why is he not going out and winning now that the countdown to four is on? I suspect that the competition has caught him and it is now a fight for the title instead of coasting home as in years past.

I understood the lucky comment to mean that he was lucky that the points were reset, but I can see how in the course of the interview it could be taken as though he was lucky to win Indy.

For the record, I HATE the countdown and am neither a Connolly or G.A fan. I am a Mike Edwards fan.

Greg may be upset that the countdown to 8 reset the points and put Connolly back in the game, but he sure is "lucky" that the upcoming countdown to 4 will be a payback putting him back in the game against Connelly. The poison that he thinks nearly killed him will be the jelly on his toast pretty soon because Connelly is walking away from him.

Good "Luck" Dave.

Go TEAM TORCO!

Typical hater. Was GA mean to you or something?

First, I'm not a hater. Let's just clarify that. I have drivers that I like, and don't like, but hate is not a word that would imply how I feel.

Second, how can you argue with the facts? Do you see Greg having tons of fans? Do you see anything in his interviews but this pompous attitude of "we are so much better than everyone else?" In my opinion, NO!

Thanks for putting words in my mouth Sammy!

Pompous? Huh? In just about every interview GA is never "we are so much better." His whole team works hard for the success they have!

SO you read his mind !!!!!! It sure didn't sound like it to me,it sounded like ARROGANCE !! Pure & Simp;e !
BUT you are the EXPERT on everything........ :) I mean everything !

Why the personal attack against Justin? I thought this thread was about bashing GA.

I dont think "luck" has anything to do with it...
Connolly is just playing the game/system better then Anderson and he's pissed about it....plain and simple.

I go to a couple of races each year and spend most of my time in the Pro Stock pits. It's much less crowded than Nitro Alley and I find the drivers and crew to be more accessible and willing to answer my techie questions. In my experience, the Summit car pit tends to have the most people hanging around it, with GA and JL making a point to greet fans and sign autographs, even between rounds on Sunday. Erica Enders is/was also very popular and accessible. I've been going to races for many years and never once detected a hint of arrogance or cockiness from the Summit drivers in the way they interact with spectators. On the contrary, I get the impression of a very professional team.

Pro Stock is unlikely to ever have the appeal or fan following of fuel racing and John Force in particular. The Summit team does not have throngs of fans and the rock-star status of JFR, but neither does any other Pro Stock operation.

I don't think it's GA's attitude toward the casual fan that gets him the rap,I think it's his attitude about the whole situation. I've seen him autographing fans cars in the parking lot of Atlanta,so he's fan friendly as far as I can see. I'm certainly not taking up for him but he's had a lot thrown @ him like rules changes aimed @ them directly, the pressure of winning which becomes his right in his mind after winning so much. Now this Countdown deal has rained on his parade and I'm sure it's tough to deal with. Now he can see what WJ and others have had to deal with all of these years when the kitchen gets hot. I believe his statement about Connolly being lucky was aimed @ the Countdown deal but IMHO he should wait till it's over with before taking aim because how is it going to look if he comes back to win it? Just because some pull against him doesn't make us bad guys, but guys who like the action to be fun and to me,this is a lot of fun. This deal is far from over, after all,how long can Connolly keep up the pace without making a mistake? I think GA has already caught a couple of breaks like Krisher giving up the ghost after that .100 something light GA had against him. I can see where GA would be pi$$ed after losing 170 or so points when the Countdown began but it's the way it is,like it or not. The whole concept was to make the race to the Championship interesting and I believe NHRA is successfull in that respect. I'm not handing the Championship to Connolly because I'm thinking KJ is going to get hot and get in to the final four, then it's anybody's.:D Are we having fun yet?

I've never seen anyone, but ScubaSteve, do a scuba shot (8 ounces of Jack Daniels in one gulp) and not fall down or barf it up. One night Scuba did 3. He's the King!!

I better see your face at the track next season Jack!!!!

yeah we like to have some fun after the racings done for the day , some of the stuff that goes on after the fans leave the track is legendary. i dont know about being the king jack but we sure had some good times this yr made quite a few winners circles etc etc. all in all drag racing just kicks azz

Aint that the truth brother! All I know is I got to renew my ND membership on Thursday when I arrive home, so I get my full 3 day audiocast. Got to have something to keep me going. Oh I found a plus of going home, all the old mags and video's ahhhhh! I'll put that Elmer Trett run I was talking to you about at Indy with him on and off the trottle hazing the tires with huge flames out the back of the headers, still running a 7.50 in VA. Look out for it ;)

You're absolutely right, that is what he meant. As for how it's going to look if he comes back to win it, it's not going to matter because winning the championship won't make his statement any less true.

I don't understand what everyone is pissed about. The only think he screwed up in his statement was naming Dave personally. The fact is, all of the other 7 were lucky, not just Dave. Although Dave's got the hot hand now, any other year it would be too little, too late. The lead was just too large and GA woud've been the true world champ, period.

How are the other 7 lucky?? The Countdown rules never changed and magically they decided half way through that they were going to let 8 people run for the championship...All anyone had to do was make the top 8..doesnt matter where you are...now its the top 4...doesnt matter where you are in that top 4 as long as your in it....Hopefully NHRA will see the problems and frustrations and do something about it but I highly doubt that!
I dont agree with this Countdown for the same reasons as most other people but the bottom line is its here and its only going to make GA look like a bigger fool to keep crying about it....thats just my opinion.

excellent post! if anyone says greg is arrogant hes a hater, i dont care what he or she says they are haters. greg is very approachable and a nice guy to talk too. every year @ e-town i stop buy and get to chat with him for a few minutes, and im just a regular fan, i was at the banquet in LA in 03 and we talked again for a few. this year he told me about the g6s they will run in 08. he has never been cocky or arrogant in any way possible, again if you think that youve never talked to him or just not a fan, just admit your not a fan but dont says hes arrogant. these drivers are very easy to talk too. let me not go into a certain top fuel driver that his father owns the team and is sponsored by the army, but he is trully arrogant. ive seen it multiple times. but if i say anything bad about that team people will be all over me. that team is worshiped around here :( if you havent had the chance to talk to greg to see if hes arrogant, talk to him @ the next national event you go too, then decide. except for tony $hu ive never come across a racer that was arrogant and not nice. people are very jelous of success i guess. its sad.

Very simple. Without the new system, there's zero chance of a championship for any of them, period. But now they have a chance, and to me, that makes them all pretty damn lucky.

Sometimes this board cracks me up. Fuller and Capps for the most part seem to be justified in their criticism, but GA says something and it's open season. You're right, Mikaela, the new system is what it is, but Greg Anderson a fool? This guy and his team are the most dominant force NHRA Pro Stock has seen in quite some time and it really doesn't matter what anyone thinks about that. I'm not even a KB Racing fan and I can recognize that.

Fool????? ROTFLMMFAO!!! Now that's a good one!!!
