Thacker’s Day Ends Too Early in Norwalk

The Knoll Gas – Torco Racing Fuels blown alcohol dragster driven by Marty Thacker was in Norwalk, Ohio for the Summit Racing Equipment Nationals. The car was running well and they were all set for their semi-final match-up before the ignition box failed at the starting line and they were unable complete their pass down the quarter-mile.

“We blew the second and third qualifying sessions before we figured out we had a problem in the clutch. After we fixed that, the car ran really well in the first round. Second round we were on a nice mid-30 run when the blower belt gave up. So we were real disappointed when the ignition box failed in the semis. I think we had the best race car we have had in a while."

The Team qualified #8 for the event with a 5.42 at 263 MPH. In the first round he ran a 5.40 at 262 MPH to earn the win light. During the second round of eliminations the blower belt came off the car around half track he coasted across the finish line to take the win. Unfortunately, during the semi-finals the ignition box failed and Thacker was unable to get the car started.

“To look at the bright side, we are going into a crucial 3 week divisional swing with a race car that is running very strong. We'll use the time before the next race to build another motor, and get the parts stocked up, so we can go back to back to back. Hopefully we can make a major move in the points chase.”

Thacker’s next event will be in St. Louis July 13th thru the 15th.
