I'm the short block and bottom end guy on Bodes crew, and we have a max of 25 runs on a crank before we call it done. Some make it that far and others don't. A lot depends on the tune up. If the engine is happy, the cranks job is much easier, and it looks sweet when it comes back.
If it smokes the tires or puts a hole out the crank and or rods take a beating and sometimes don't survive very long. We've had a couple of cranks break with three runs on them. One broke just before the rear main journal and not only did it destroy the entire short block, it killed everything in the clutch can when the clutch broke free of the rest of the crank at 7800 rpm.
A new one costs about $6k and weighs somewhere around 85 lbs, not much fun to carry for too long. That's why that guy was trying to sell it for $75 lol.
