TCI transmissions?

Are they any good? My son has a 79 Z28 w/ a 300HP SBC. He just toasted the trans and is leaning towards buying one. We live in the rural south so mail order would probably be the best bet. Summit and Jegs sell the TCI trans cheaper than I could pick it up in Memphis ( about 3 hours away). Who else should he look at?

I think they are built in Mississippi ! I have a TCI 4L60E in my Street Rod .
They have a lot of Trannies in Hot Rods around here and I haven't heard any complaints.
Long as it isn't over 650 HP street they are great.
For pure race they have a killer power glide.
Any more than that LENCO
There might be a few local guys that build better but TCI is OK in my books.

The big good guys show here gets about 3000 rods showing up a couple of times a year. I would say that half have tci's in them. Have not heard any complaints and tech support is good.
