CHARLOTTE, NC (April 29, 2011) – The Stanfield-Yonke Racing, Coffman Tank Trucks, Nitrofish Pontiac GXP of Greg Stanfield went into the 24th annual O’Reilly NHRA Spring Nationals in Houston, Texas wanting to take over the points lead.
Qualifying in the ninth spot heading into Saturday’s two qualifying sessions, Stanfield is looking for a bit more before race day on Sunday. Running a 6.597 et at 209.82 mph was good enough to secure him a spot so far.
“We struggled today,” said Greg Stanfield. “We need a bit more in order to improve our position going into Sunday. We know what we are missing, so we should be fine tomorrow.”
Stanfield is sitting only one round out of the NHRA Championship points lead, so running well each pass is crucial.
He will have two more shots to move up in the qualifying order tomorrow.
