DRC is reporting Angie Smith was separated from her bike after Q2 run. She was conscious and alert but taken to hospital. Didn't look like any of Matt's team made a run after that.
11:49 PM, EST Saturday, September 30 - UPDATED: A spokesperson for Matt Smith Racing has confirmed Angie suffered two broken feet and extensive road rash as a result of her crash Saturday afternoon. She is expected to meet with a skin graft surgeon on Sunday morning.

"They wanted to say thank you for all the messages and phone calls and we will give updates as they come. What's important is Angie is stable and going to be okay."

Pro Stock Motorcycle racer Angie Smith was involved in an accident during the second qualifying round at the NHRA Midwest Nationals outside of St. Louis, Mo.

Smith became separated from her bike shortly after passing the finish line at World Wide Technology Raceway. She came to a rest in the track's shutdown area.

NHRA officials confirmed Smith was alert and conscious and was examined by medical personnel before being transported to a local medical facility for further evaluation.

This is an ongoing news story and will be updated as details become available.

Trivia:
Leah Pruett has made it to the semis in four of the last five races. Torrence and Kalitta have done it three times.

Robert Hight, Ron Capps, Bob Tasca have made it to the semis in four of the last five races.
When two of those three make it to the semis, the third doesn't.

Erica Enders has made it to the semis in four of the last five races. Koretsky has done it three times.

I have no idea if this means anything. o_O

so impressed with performance of parts plus, edelbrock, comp cams, rwr TF'r yesterday. jim and bruce reed found something for leah in that
final round, made it stick, and outperformed her for the huge win. some day that team won't be together anymore, but rite now i'm enjoying watching
and following them thru clay's utube channel, and pulling for them to do well at every race. they are an infectious bunch.

enjoyed tony stewart taking the time to be in booth. very nice addition, especially speaking as an owner/racer.

greg anderson. the old man cut stellar lights all day yesterday. another outstanding performance, especially ignoring muffed burnout and getting job done in final.

On Saturday in Madison I took the liberty of introducing myself to Tony Smith, of Team Zizzo and Nitromater fame. Tony was busy with clutch stuff but downed tools at once and we had a cordial conversation for several minutes. I mentioned I'd be back in March for the Gatornats and Tony said Team Z Rustoleum might venture there too (first time since 2019?).

Also visited Clay M and Jim O, whom I've known for a few years via the British Drag Racing Hall of Fame. I'd like to think I brought them some good luck, but I don't think they needed any in achieving their win.

Hey Robin, it was great meeting you! It's always nice to connect a name with a face and meet a new friend.

I'll have to make it out to Santa Pod someday. As the wife and I get closer towards retirement, it will definitely be on my bucket list.

We just had a meeting about our 2024 schedule. Unfortunately, it looks like the GatorNats' made be out, Phoenix and Epping may be in.

Hey Tony, sorry not to see you again at Gainesville, but that's to Phoenix's and Epping's advantage. Yes, do come over to Santa Pod -- you'll both be very welcome. Let me know once you start thinking about it.
