They also just held the million and all of the preliminary races that go along with it. Good to see them have a bunch of races on the strip and oval when it wasn't all that long ago they appeared to be on the chopping block.

donnie hagar in an early 70's vega with simple chev small block and powerglide won the big million dollar race; and in race's history, first winner to do so
without a delay box. a great story. here's a great interview on wes' show with donnie, it's a little long, but worth a listen. a huge win for the little guy.

- kyle wurtzel back in action this weekend. hope he can continue solid performance from brainerd. hope to see high 3.7
- also cody krohn, making TF debut driving for larry dixon......really like to see larry coming back into nhra in this fashion
- forecast is warm this weekend. clay millican has run well in heat this summer.
- is doug kalitta capable of a clean sweep to end year? (same as torrence a few years back)

Heading over after I feed the cats and dogs, I will be their all 3 days and Friday and Sat for the Lucas event

Interesting the Doug's car has had no primary sponsor the last few races. The car just says "Kalitta Air". No doubt Connie gets to write off some of the expenses of these races as advertising for Kalitta Air, but he still has to pay the bills out of pocket when there is no primary sponsor. Fortunately, he can afford it.

I sure hope they keep those 2 TF and one FC teams running after Connie dies. One wonders if there is any plan of succession in place. I have never heard if Doug would be taking over operation of those teams. I guess we'll see.

I was the west coast rep. for the world's largest landing gear company for 45 years. and Connie was one of our customers. Believe me Connie does NOT need a sponsor, but why spend your own money. And yes there is a plan in place when the time comes.
Larry Sutton---🤠

DRC is reporting Angie Smith was separated from her bike after Q2 run. She was conscious and alert but taken to hospital. Didn't look like any of Matt's team made a run after that.

So far, the Dixon dragster with young Cody Krohn at the wheel has made 2 good, clean passes in the low 3.80's. Anyone know who the crew chief is for that car? I wonder who else Dixon rounded up for the crew. It can't be easy to put a crew together for a one-shot deal like this, let alone run as good as they have.

Tony Shortall is the crew chief. I‘m guessing it’s most of the same crew he had at Indy with Will Smith driving.
