So, does anyone have any speculation on MOPAR SRT announcement (3 Viewers)

While KB and Elite are powerhouses they don’t own all the cars. Some pay $25k to lease and engine per race and some pay $50K to lease a race ready car. I do know that Hartford, Kramer and Chris Vang are owners of their cars.
So do the McGahas. I think the Cuadras do as well?

I just wasn’t sure of their current relationship. Do they own the cars and who has a F.I.R.E power plant and who has an Elite.
Fire is only with 1 cuadra, for some reason delco left fire and ran some1 elses engine all year, didnt work out i guess. Delco and cuadra i beleive own cars

so if people are leasing engines and cars, who owns them ?? KB and Elite. Yes there are a few independents still but without KB and Elite there would be 4 teams.

I'd like to see them commit to a new P/S engine program, contingent on NHRA signing a contract saying they will not penalize the Mopars for at least five years, even if they outrun all the Brand Xs in the meantime.

So let's be thankful that there are teams like Elite & KB and other multicar teams who make the investment in the sport. You just have to realize, racing in the pro categories is a different animal than in years gone by. Where would Indycar and NASCAR be without the big team owners?

I don't think you've been able to lease a competitive PS engine for $25K per race for years. More like $40,000 per race or $750,000 for a season's lease program.

I am not complaining about it I am simply saying without a few people the entire sport could be gone. There are a few owners keeping everything available. The thing is we they need to figure out how to "fix" it. We keep saying everything is fine but it is far from it. We need to be honest first to save something we all love.
Remember when the Chandlers Kids pulled the money two great cars and drivers gone. I do not know the KB specifics but he has passed so what if the money goes away half of PS is gone.

Wife was a huge fan, we used to hit 10-12 events a year 25 years ago. Every year a few disappear Kenny, Larry, Budweiser, Miller then a few more and the excitement goes away. I remember going to races and the stands would go nuts over the beer wars, GM vs MOPAR, now it's all gone.
Remember when PS had 15 brands, wife liked Pontiac. each year a few less now she does not care anymore and believe me she used to plan all our trips and look forward to spectating.

I can't really disagree with much of what you're saying Ken. I've been around this sport since I was born, and have seen the many changes over the years, some great, some not too good at all. But I think it's a matter of perspective. There is nothing in this world that is the same as it was 10, 20, 30 years ago and so on. Drag racing is no different. No driver drives forever, no team stays around forever, and certainly no sponsor lasts forever. The entire advertising model has changed, so teams have to go about finding marketing partners in an entirely different way. Costs go nowhere but up, but again, that's in all motorsports. But here we are approaching 75 years of NHRA racing, and the sport is still viable, and to me, still a fantastic bang for the entertainment buck. I still get amped up when I pull into a track. To top it off, for the first time since the days of Pro Comp, NHRA brought back Injected Fuel FCs, and I was dumb enough to build one! :p To sum it up, I'm going to continue to enjoy the sport and everything it currently offers, and I always encourage anybody who's been an enthusiast to do the same.

KB/Titan is financially sound. I'm more worried about the OEMs. I agree with what Ken said about the brand wars.
But, AMC, Pontiac, Oldsmobile, Buick, Mercury, Plymouth don't exist anymore. Chevy doesn't make the Camaro anymore.

In 1970 Warren Johnson went to a dealership and bought a new Camaro. He took it home pulled the engine and made it into a Pro Stock Car.
I know those are the days that many are longing for, but it ain't gonna happen.

Alan

Ahh, the good old days.....

Ken Black was not involved in the ownership of KB/Titan for the last several years. Now owned by Greg and two others so they are not going anywhere.
