When they cut off the font half of Jack's chassis, there were some diagonals that jutted out, with no top tubing through them. Is that where the slip tubing occurs?

good question tom.....also wonder if these shops don't have front (and in case of TF back too) halves either already finished or mostly
finished (welded on jig) so when this happens with back to back races the fab guys don't start from scratch.

They do, but sometimes there's a feature that has to be added or changed after the part was put in inventory.
