It' hard to tell in the picture but it looks like the can and rear engine mount are still in tact. Looks like the engine block moved forward away from the can and motor plate. Maybe the rear of the block broke, or the threads in the aluminum block pulled out?

Is the flywheel in the can -see no signs of damage to the can-looks like motor plate still attached to can

I'm glad he's Ok, Shawn's a hoot once you get to know him. Shawn's a former boat drag champion in Top Alcohol Hydro and is running Pro Mod this year and looks like he has the points to take that championship too. LODBRS World Finals is this weekend at WHP, so I'm sure we'll hear the story then. Normally NHRA runs the same weekend as Vegas2; but, not this year so Scott Palmer will be back in the boat pits and I wouldn't be surprised if some of his friends showed up.

Also looks like it pulled the main caps out of the bottom of the block, and the flywheel and clutch came off the end of the crankshaft, which I assume stayed inside the can. (thank god)

Was amazed they got it fixed and raced round 1. Had wondered if it had tweaked the chassis.

It was a very grim site. I think it took well over an hour to get that engine out.
Glad they got out there for 1st round.
