I would like to hear nhra's side of the story. But it sure sounds like Shawn is getting a terrible deal here !! if they have a valid reason for Shawn not to compete in the countdown lets hear it, otherwise admit your error and fix the problem. Shawn is an important and valued driver and team owner.

No. Contrary to popular opinion, NHRA is not that petty. They truly wanted IHRA to succeed.

NHRA does this all the time, been doing it for over fifty years, if Shawn was one of their favorites it would not have been an issue.
Not only did he ask because he was bringing two cars, one for Ida, and she is one of NHRA favorites and even though he got extra funding for her car it still cost him some of his own money to make it happen. Not only did he get mis information (and flip flopping) from NHRA, but he also got screwed out of the countdown bonus money and a chance to improve his final finish in the countdown. If he was unsure about parking his car this might push him to making that a reality.

If you read his post he did bring it up and "Four days before the Charlotte event, NHRA’s Josh Peterson called me specifically to discuss our entries and my intentions for the weekend... I told him .. I planned to make one or two qualifying runs on Friday to ensure I remained eligible for the Countdown. Based on that conversation, I left with the understanding that our plan met the necessary requirements." THEN .. It wasn’t until an NHRA Teams meeting in August — after NHRA learned I may reduce my racing schedule next season — that I was informed I was not eligible for the Countdown because I had failed to make three qualifying attempts at Charlotte. NHRA double speak strikes again!

This sounds like we've heard this before. Racer asks a question , gets wrong info from a NHRA official. Racers complains, NHRA says it's in the rule book. Then crickets from NHRA
