Set back blower

Who came up with the idea of the set back blower? I wasn't following drag racing when it became common place.

Great read, interesting topic from an a master at tuning and was happy to be racing during that time period.

Interesting that they used flow sensors to see where the air was coming out of the blower outlet. Wonder if they still test that way, or if they use CFD now? I would ask the different manufacturers, but I think I'd get silence (like I'm a spy or something)...
