Rodger Brogdon Phoenix pre race (1 Viewer)

[coverattach=1]As the NHRA Full Throttle tour rolls into Arizona this weekend for the second stop on the 2009 tour, Rodger Brogdon and the Steve Kent Racing Pro Stock team ready their program for their first race of the season.

Even though the team missed the season opening race in southern California two weeks ago while chasing some in-car gremlins, the team is looking forward to getting back on track at Firebird Raceway this weekend. A recently acquired Jerry Bickel chassis and some testing this past weekend gives Rodger Brogdon and the rest of the team a renewed sense of optimism for the upcoming weekend.

“I was concerned when we realized that we were going to miss the Winternationals,” Brogdon said. “But with that event being shortened by all the rain and the testing we were able to get done this past weekend, I’m really looking forward to the race this weekend.” Rodger added, “Scott and Brian have been working hard to make horsepower in the engine shop while Jerry Eckman and Dr. Phil have been sorting out the new chassis. Everyone’s been working hard for the last couple of weeks and with the success we’ve had at Firebird Raceway in the past the entire team is anxious to get back on track.” “The forecast for this weekend in Phoenix looks great, so we should be able to get in some solid qualifying laps to get ready for race day.”

Brogdon won the Lucas Oil Slick Mist Nationals at Firebird Raceway in 2005, defeating David Rampy in a classic Comp eliminator final round, and then in 2007 during Rodger’s initial foray into Pro Stock, even after an extremely close first round loss, he was able to leave the event with a top ten standing in the points. With a strong showing this weekend, the team is looking forward to regaining a berth in the Full Throttle points chase.
