(Bristol, TN) When the “Pistonator” team arrives in Bristol, Tennessee for the NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals this week it will be with renewed drive and enthusiasm after the team took a different course for Sunday’s elimination at Englishtown that proved positive.
“We’ve been struggling for most of the season with our 60
foot times,” said Rodger Brogdon, driver of the Attitude Apparel / Kent
Services Pro Stock Pontiac. “And for Sunday’s eliminations, we made wholesale changes to the setup that was in the car. Most normal teams try out changes during qualifying or testing, but we’re a little on the daring side and we figured the worst that could happen would be a first round loss, and that is something we’ve done far too often this year as it is. We made the changes, saw some very positive results and came within 13 ten thousandths of a second from stealing a first round win from Jeg Coughlin.”
“With the run at Englishtown to build on we feel confident
that we’re on the right track, and with that in mind we’re also going to add
Tim Freeman to the team and lean on his knowledge and experience to keep us going in our new direction. Tim has worked with several successful Pro
Stock teams over the years and also carries his own Pro Stock license, so he brings a level of expertise to the Attitude Apparel team that is unmatched in most of the Pro Stock pit areas. We’ve known Tim for a number of years and raced against him during our time in Comp Eliminator and we feel very confident that his addition along with the changes we are making will carry us into the Countdown at the end of the year.”
“Making these changes with the K & N Horsepower Challenge at Norwalk just 2 weeks away also puts some added strain on this week’s race,” Brogdon added. “Bristol will be where the seven cars for the race will be determined, and it will be either Greg Stanfield or us in the seventh spot. With the fans voting to determine the eighth and final position, we would sure like to be able to wrap up our spot during qualifying for the run at the 50,000.00 that
K & N has put up to win the race. We know it’s a roll of the dice, but we feel pretty good about our chances, based on what we learned at
Englishtown.”
“No matter how it turns out,” Rodger concluded, “it’s going to make this year’s race for the”Pistonator” at Thunder Valley one to remember.
We did well here last year and I’m looking forward to doing even better this
year.”
