ROBERT PATRICK DRIVES TO VICTORY AT MIR’S MOUNTAIN MOTOR NATIONALS

BUDDS CREEK, MD. – IHRA Torco’s CompetitionPlus Pro Stock standout Robert Patrick drove his Purvis Ford-sponsored Shelby Cobra to victory in one of the most prestigious independent events in drag racing.

Patrick, of nearby Fredericksburg, Va., continued his torrid 2007 pace by defeating Rickie Smith in the final round of Maryland International Raceway’s Mountain Motor Nationals. The multi-time IHRA national event winner also qualified #1.

“This is a great opportunity for us,” Patrick said, of last night’s victory. “When you have an evening like this, you enjoy every moment of it. I think this provides us with a great deal of momentum headed into Tulsa.”

Patrick’s march to the winner’s circle began with a 6.381, 219.01 domination of John Bartunek.

Patrick then stopped a former world champion by laying down a 6.384, 219.33 to pull away from Dan Seamon.

His final round victory came at the expense of Rickie Smith and courtesy of a 6.407 elapsed time and 218.76 mile per hour speed.

This marks the second victory in less than a year for Patrick at MIR. He captured a $20,000 payday last September courtesy of Torco Race Fuels by securing the Torco’s CompetitionPlus Pro Stock Showdown.
