PATRICK ADDS TO POINT LEAD WITH RUNNER-UP FINISH

MARTIN, MI. – Robert Patrick added a solid runner-up finish to solidify his surge towards a first ever IHRA CompetitionPlus Pro Stock championship.

Patrick lost a tough match opposite of Frank Gugliotta during yesterday’s IHRA North American Nationals in Epping, NH. Four races remain on the 2007 IHRA Knoll Gas Nitro Jam tour.

But Patrick knows a lot can happen in four races.

“I’m not even counting points and don’t even want to think about it,” Patrick said. “Each race is a championship and if you leave out there the winner than your chances are greater when the season comes to a close.

“As for this weekend, losing that run on Friday didn’t help us but we adapted and made the best out of the situation. We came out conservative in the first qualifying session and gradually stepped things up from there all weekend.”

Patrick entered eliminations as the second quickest and used a torrid 6.3-second pace to beat Rickie Smith (6.396), John Nobile (6.390) and Rob Mansfield before meeting eventual winner Gugliotta.

In the final round, Patrick turned a -.023 foul negating a 6.425 elapsed time at 219.44 mile per hour lap.
