PATRICK RIDING WAVE OF SUCCESS INTO TULSA

TULSA, OK. – Robert Patrick has a quick and fast hot rod. Nothing makes him smile more than driving that point home. The Purvis Ford-sponsored driver within the Torco’s CompetitionPlus Pro Stock division heads into this weekend’s IHRA SKULL Shine Sooner Nationals hosted by Tulsa Dragway looking to reclaim the point lead he held earlier.

Only six points separate first place from second in what promises to be one of the tightest IHRA Torco’s CompetitionPlus Pro Stock championship battles ever. When you consider Patrick’s 2007 scorecard has been supplemented by a win and a semi-final as well as a #1 qualifying #3 qualifier, you get the idea of how tough this battle will be.

“It’s going to be a battle that will go down to the wire,” Patrick, who hails from Fredericksburg, Va., said. “That is why you have to have consistency on your side. We are gunning for a strong performance this weekend. It’s already proving that will be a requirement to win this year.”

Patrick’s latest triumph came during an independent gathering of mountain motor Pro Stocks. He not only paced the eight-car field during Maryland International Raceway’s Mountain Motor Nationals, but also drove his way to a convincing victory.

That is not the only time that Patrick has exhibited total domination during a 2007 victory. At the season opener in San Antonio, Patrick qualified on top in both the quarter-mile and the revised eighth-mile formats. He went on to post a victory over John Montecalvo in the final round.

Patrick’s 2007 round win-loss record thus far is 6-1.
