Oh No! I was not expecting this. Sad. :(

There was a time in nitro racing when I didn't have much to cheer for because the outcomes were usually a foregone conclusion.

Don changed that and renewed my passion for nitro racing and his efforts gave me many moments of happiness.
Very grateful to Don. Thank you Don!
Ugh, this hurts.

Man, sad news. I respected him, even if I rooted for other drivers, for all his history and the teams he built. Condolences to Tony and the family. This is a bad time, being in the off season and the holiday fast approaching. I hope the NHRA does something fitting to his memory at opening day…

I always was the biggest DSR fan. Seemed like Don always hired my favorite drivers. Thanks for all the memories Don. RIP.

Praying for peace and comfort for his family and friends during this extremely difficult time.

Devastating news. He was a titan of the sport. I loved the DSR vs JFR battles in FC which really more than anything else grew my obsession with the sport.

Sad news, have great memory of Don many moons ago after the Friday qualifying session at Bandimere, standing in in the staging lanes with my young son and Beckman just ran last pair and Don walked by saw my son eating a bag of popcorn and he reached out for the bag grabbed a handful and patted my son on his head, down to earth guy even during heat of the battle. Godspeed Don!

Wow hard to beleive,R.I.P. ptayers for family. Wonder what happens with everything now

Sending prayers to Don’s family during this this difficult time. RIP Don

I wonder what will happen to the remaining portions of his drag racing operation? The one we all hear about is the DSR chassis shop. They still seem to do a real good business there. I'm sure there is a plan in place for that, as Don seemed to be very good at planning ahead, which we all saw in recent years when he sold off all of his drag racing teams. But I believe the chassis shop was still an in-house operation. Who runs that? Not Tony, as Tony doesn't seem to be involved with any of the Schumacher companies. Is it step-daughter Megan? For a while there it kind of seemed like she may have been the heir apparent to taking over the operation of the race teams, but that quickly fell by the wayside. I guess we will see in coming weeks and months.

Thank you for everything you did for the sport of drag racing.

RIP, Don.
