Sad news to start the year. Dick Venables had a Brake and Alignment shop in Houston, and was involved with a Top Fuel car.
His son is known as Dickie. He also hired his son's friend, a kid named Rahn Tobler. And taught them about racing.
A guy you might not have ever heard of, was responsible for the start of those two future Hall of Fame Crew Chiefs.

The brotherhood of racing is thinking about Dickie and Rahn tonight.

There is a good article about the Venables-Tobler connection on CompPlus.com. I never knew about that connection until yesterday
 
Sad loss for the racing community and heartbreaking for family and friends. May he rest well.
