REED RACING OPENS NEW WORKSHOP IN BID FOR TITLE

After a construction time of 6 months one of Australia ’s leading professional Drag Racing teams, the Bunya based Reed Racing, have opened the doors of their brand new motorsport workshop located at Brendale.

With this, the team has created a crucial prerequisite in ensuring the continued competitiveness of its vehicles in the Australian Drag Racing Championship and strengthened their chances for a National Title bid.

The new complex includes a dedicated race workshop for the team’s three vehicles, terminal for trucks and an office area for the administration department.

”This is a very exciting time for everyone involved with the team, the new facility will further enhance our racing capabilities and will allow us to give a sharper focus both on and off the track,” Team Boss Steven Reed said.

“The workshop houses separate areas for the servicing of each of our race cars and with all of our maintenance between Championship Rounds being done in-house, this will give us the platform for more development.”

“It will then in turn help us continually increase our performance base and, hopefully, win a championship – that’s our goal.”

“This season has been one of the teams most successful to date with both myself and Debbie (Reed) currently running in the top four of the Australian Top Alcohol Championship with just two round remaining.”

“With the new complex it is another step in keeping us at the forefront of Drag Racing in Australia .”

It consists of father Steven Reed who is one of the most respected Drag Racers in the country, his wife Debbie Reed who is the only female competing against the men in the professional Top Alcohol race bracket, and son Daniel who races in the Supercharged Outlaws category.

Steven has been competing at the top level of sport for over 27 years and is in the top 5 quickest Top Alcohol Funny Drivers of all time in Australia . Along with the opening of the new race workshop, he has also recently launched a brand new 3500 horsepower Nulon Engine Oils Top Alcohol Funny Car which he is now campaigning in the Australian Top Alcohol Championship.

Debbie is the only female taking it up to the men in the professional Top Alcohol bracket in her Nulon Dragster. She further etched her name in the Drag Racing history books in September 2006 when she became the first ever women to win the bracket at a Championship event. Regularly travelling at speeds nearing 400kph also meaning she is one of the fastest ever females in Australia .

Daniel, an auto electrician by trade, is the son of Steven and Debbie and is also a highly successful racer in his own right. Driving his ‘Start Ya Bastard’ backed Altered, he won the 2006 Australian Nationals and is currently leading the Supercharged Outlaws bracket in the National Championship.

The Reed Racing team will next be hitting the track for the penultimate round of the Australian Drag Racing Championship at the Western Sydney International Dragway from May 4-5 before returning to Queensland for the season-ending Winternationals at Willowbank Raceway from June 8-10.
