VALDOSTA, Ga (Mar. 10, 2008) – Six time former IHRA World Champion Clay Millican, and his Knoll Gas Motorsports, SinFuel Choppers, Torco Race Fuel Top Fuel Dragster has shown tremendous results during the ESTN test session in Valdosta, GA. Posting the quickest times of any team during the test session, Team Torco is showing the world they can compete with anyone.
“Basically, we ran a little bit of testing in Gainesville in December; went back to the shop, put together a brand new car from scratch,” said Millican. “We came here to Valdosta , which is my first time here, and the car has been absolutely flawless. It’s done everything we’ve asked it to do. It’s been very repeatable and it’s working great. The team we have assembled here is the same group of guys, with six World Championships; they know what they’re doing. For me, it was just fantastic hopping back in. I love riding the rollercoaster and I haven’t got to ride it in a while. The car is very fast. Lance Larsen and Johnny West have a very fast combination and it’s fun to drive.”
Although the team has shown tremendous results during testing, the main focus is still on the long term health of Torco founder and leader Evan Knoll. Despite the 2008 break from competition, the team is still ready to resume the business of drag racing.
“I’m just happy to get to drive the car,” Millican went on to say. “My main concern through all of this is that Evan [Knoll] gets healthy. That is all I care about. Races will be going on long after I’m gone. Evan is such a wonderful guy to everybody in drag racing. He’s a very dear friend of mine, and I want him to get better. Taking a sabbatical is not that big of a deal when you consider what all Evan has done for everybody and what he’s going through.”
With very positive test results shown once again, the team is ready and on standby to resume competition once given the green light. With the overall, eventual goal of making it to the winners circle, Millican and Team Torco wants the world to know, they could always be a major contender at any point.
“This car could show up anywhere and be competitive,” Millican said. “Testing is just testing and testing is not racing. But when you have a car that can do what you want it to do, you’ve got a car that can win racing. This is a group of winners and we know how to turn win lights on. Yes, we can show up and win.”
