I believe you have to be invited to participate at the race, correct ? How many cars in the pro categories are invited?
Their current list of competitors shows 11 TF, 12 FC, and 14 PS. Just curious as to why each category has a different number of cars.
Maybe their list hasn't been updated ? If they invite someone and they turn them down do they invite someone else ?

actually rite now the shootout website shows 10 FC and 11 TF.
wondering if they will add one more FC so there will be 3 DNQ cars in each nitro category, allowing for (3) FC vs. TF runs on saturday?
also, the saturday schedule shows 4 rnds. of PS, so again wondering if 2 more will be added to round out a 16 car field?

My understanding is you have to be a member of PRO to be invited. So I would assume anyone who is, has already received an invitation.

So, did I miss something? Is Scag no longer sponsoring any TF or FC teams?
Justin Ashley posted on Instagram today and wearing a Scag firesuit. Wilkerson posted twice in the last week with Scag as a sponsor. Both are still entered into the Pro Race with Scag as their sponsor.

So, after I posted, I started to look at this one and see if it was somewhere I would be.
Interested concept/format (I would have run TF vs FC on one of the days, but...).
Wasn't this a big money race last year? I don't see anything about a purse at all this time around.
Did Drag Illustrated come with THAT much $$$, because I don't see them mentioned either.

Skag actually OWNS the Ashley and Wilkerson teams, also owns the Richards F/C racing team.

If its anything like last year, oh yes. We flying from Texas again for it, Id like to see maybe 2 of them a year,
plan on going again too. probably just one day. fri or sat.; watch the weather.
noticed that FLO is re-releasing the youtube interviews from last year that courtney did with the drivers.

The rumor I heard, last year's event didn't payout what was advertised.

We shall see how this all unfolds….it takes $$$. With IND being the base of the majority of race teams and track location, it makes cents to hold the PRO event in FL. With the WinterNationals slated to return next year to kick off season….we shall see

two weeks away. still surprised a few are not on the list. weather forecast much better starting next week.
first day of us street nationals today. highs between 55 and 60 today thru saturday.

Weather ain't too good for the U.S. Nats. Mon-Wed testing was cancelled and didn't see any action today either. Temp today was 48 degrees! Tomorrow is suppose to be a lot warmer.

.....didn't see any action today either.......
racing cancelled today. was watching utube yesterday or tuesday testing. someone mentioned they thought more cars there this weekend
than for the snowbirds. 32 car field could be extremely tight.

It seems like there is a lot less hype about this event this year than last year. Is that accurate?

I don't recall we ever heard how last year's event did financially. Have we heard about any big corporate sponsorship of this year's event? Remember what we have seen repeated over the decades when professional racers have tried to put on a National event of their own, paying BIG money. We could argue whether Garlits' first National Challenge was a success (as discussed in the video posted recently), but after a few years it was done. Also, Garlits' was not cut out to be an Event Director - like a Steve Gibbs type - especially while competing at the same event. Could this year be the last we see of this event?

Maybe the BIG $$ bracket race format could be adapted to the Fuel cars? I have never thought about that before.
